Silver Starr: Thanks for clicking on a link that took you to this text document. MobiusFire is a TV show where people from a selected panel discuss important issues relating to the world of Mobius. Tonight our panel will discuss the issue "Who should end up with Sonic the Hedgehog?" I now present to you your host, Cream the Rabbit. Cream: Thanks, Silver. It's an honor to be here tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, I am the host of tonight's MobiusFire, where we will discuss the heart-breaking issue "Who should end up with Sonic the Hedgehog?" Since I am new to the world of Mobius, I was asked to lead this important discussion. First, I'd like to present Amy Rose. Amy first met Sonic the Hedgehog when she was rescued from the clutches of Metal Sonic. You can recreate this action on Sonic CD, for Sega CD and PC. Pick your copy up today! Thanks for coming, Amy. Amy: Thank you, Cream. It's a pleasure to be here. Cream: My next guest is Princess Sally Acorn. Sally first met Sonic when he was trying to save his Uncle Chuck. The two have become friends since then, and their relationship continues to evolve. You can find this evolution in Sonic the Hedgehog comic books, published by Archie Comics. Start with the mini-series, issue zero to relive how the two first met. Thanks for coming, Sally. Sally: Thanks, Cream. Cream: My final guest is Mina Mongoose, a new addition to the previously mentioned comic book. Mina has proven her love for Sonic by saving Sally in issue #123, but Sonic has does not return the same amount of affection. Thanks for coming, Mina. Mina: You're welcome, Cream. Cream: Ladies, we're talking tonight about "Who should end up with Sonic the Hedgehog?" Any opening remarks? Amy: I'd just like to mention the fact that I am the only character present tonight that has been in a video game. Well, besides Cream, that is. Sally: Well, I'd just like to point out the fact that I have a HUGE fan following. Back during the "End Game" story arc, hardly anybody wanted me to die. Mina: And I'd like to say that unlike the other two girls here, I actually have done something to prove my love to Sonic. What have you two done lately besides breaking rules and getting kidnapped? Cream: Mina, you'll have to try and avoid saying comments like that, especially when referring to issues of the Sonic comics. For you viewers, Amy "broke the rules" by using the Ring of Acorns to make herself older at the end of issue #79. And Sally was recently kidnapped in issue #122 of the comics. Now girls, let's have a clean fight--er, I mean "discussion." Here is our first topic of discussion. Amy said that she is the only character that has appeared in a video game. In order to end up with Sonic, must it be a requirement that you're in a video game? Sally: No, I don't believe so. After all, the issue should be who Sonic loves, not who appears in a game. Cream: One could argue that by appearing in a video game, the girl has the approval of Sonic Team, the mastermind programmers behind our beloved Sonic the Hedgehog video games. Sally: True, but shouldn't we consider what the fans like? Amy: Sally, we're not discussing the fans right now. The point is that I'm the only one that has appeared in a video game. Sally: Not true. Amy: What? Sally: If you play the first bonus stage of Sonic Spinball for Sega Genesis, you will see me being freed. Amy: I don't believe you. Sally: You'll also see Bunnie and Rotor as they're freed. Mina: Amy, she's telling the truth. Sally does appear in Sonic Spinball, although she is pink with black hair. At least when I first appeared I had colors that were pleasing to the eye. And I didn't need to explain why I changed colors later on. Cream: Mina . . . Mina: That was a reference to Knuckles the Echidna comic #29. Cream: Thank you. Amy: You call an appearance in a bonus stage as being in a video game? People can't even play as you! Sally: That's not important--the issue was appearing in a video game. Mina: We don't need to appear in a video game to end up with Sonic, anyway. Cream: Let's move on to the next issue. Sally keeps on referring to a fan base. Is a fan base important in order to end up with Sonic? Amy: No. Mina: Yes, it is important. Amy: You and Sally are just saying that because you have a strong fan base when it comes to the comics. Mina: It's not our fault that nobody likes you. Cream: Mina, I know in the comic books you're a little touchy when it comes to Sonic, but you need to settle down a little. Mina: Fine, fine. Anyway, a fan base is important because Sonic needs to end up with somebody that the fans will approve of. And if the fans don't approve of who he ends up with, a story arc will be created so that Sonic didn't really end up with her. Cream: Good point. Amy, any thoughts? Amy: I will agree that Mina makes a good point. However, this sort of thing doesn't happen in the video games. These story arcs don't exist like they do in your comic book world. Sally: Amy, you also appear in the comics. Amy: Yeah, if you count an occasional appearance here and there. There's no way I'll ever gain a fan base in the comic book when I hardly ever appear in it. Cream: Alright, it seems like we should go on to another issue. Recently, in issue #124, it seems that Sonic and Sally have gotten engaged in the comic books. What is your reaction to this? Mina: Just because they're engaged doesn't mean they'll stay that way. Amy: Exactly. Sally: You two are just jealous. Mina: Jealous?? You've known Sonic since issue zero of the mini-series! And just NOW you're getting engaged? Amy: Yeah, you shouldn't have to wait for a guy for that long. I mean, it's been like ten years since the comic started. Mina: And you know what that means: the guy just can't commit. Sally: You do realize that in those ten years that you two are referring to, Sonic has only aged one year. Amy: That doesn't matter. Mina: It was ten years to the fans, and the fan base is what counts. Remember? Cream: Any thoughts, Sally? Sally: The fan base is important in the grand scheme of things. And, although time continues for the fan base, the time within the realm of comics stands still. It's just a fact that you have to face. Amy: But you're avoiding the issue. Is Sonic afraid to commit? Sally: Of course not. He just doesn't want to ruin his image, that's all. Mina: His image? Sally: The "cool and independent hedgehog" image, of course. Cream: Speaking of images, this sounds like a good time to introduce our next issue. I looked at Sega's website the other day and I found an interview with Yuji Naka. As the fan base knows, Yuji Naka is one of the respected authorities behind Sonic the Hedgehog. In this interview, the question was asked if Sonic would ever end up with Amy. Mr. Naka's reply was that he couldn't see Sonic settling down, getting married, or having children. What are your thoughts? Amy: I guess I'll pursue him forever. But, it sure would be fun! Mina: I wouldn't give up as easily as Amy. I'd make him realize that I would make a wonderful girl to spend all of his time with. Sally: According to the comics, I'm going to end up with Sonic. We'll get married, have children, and run my father's kingdom. Amy: Again with the comics?! If you didn't have the confidence of your comics, how would you reply to Mr. Naka's comment? Sally: Well . . . I still think that he would chose me in the end. We've been through a lot together, and I'm sure he'd choose me. Mina: You don't sound too sure. Amy: I guess she doesn't have an argument without the support of the 125 plus issues of Sonic the Hedgehog. Mina: Good point. Amy: She's a princess, so I guess if he was going to end up with her it would be part of some power struggle that he might face. Mina: I like the sound of that. Cream: Ladies, I think you didn't really understand the issue. How do you feel about Mr. Naka's comments? Sally: I guess it means that we don't have much of a chance, assuming that we follow the path of the video games. Amy: Which means none of us have a chance. Mina: I don't like the thought of that. Cream: It seems like this issue has darkened the mood quite a bit, so let's move on. Let's say that Sonic and Sally aren't engaged because a story arc caused a rift between the two of them. (It's been known to happen.) Who should end up with Sonic the Hedgehog and why? Amy: I should. I've been in the video games with Sonic and we've been on many adventures together. I may not have the huge fan base following that Sally has, but I do have some support. Mina: I think you need more than just the video games. You need to have a lovable personality, like mine. Amy: And you've shown us this lovable personality tonight? Mina: Well, I admit, it hurts when I think about not being with Sonic. But I do have a lovable personality, and I have common interests with Sonic. We both can run fast and we enjoy music. Sally: I think you need more than a "lovable" personality. You need those experiences together that show you can make it as a couple. Sonic and I have been through a lot together, and that will make our relationship last. Amy: I still think you're avoiding the issue that he can't commit. Sally: You just think that because you're in the video games means that you own exclusive rights to Sonic! Amy: It's not only because I'm in the video games--it's also because I'm a hedgehog! We can't have species mixing in with each other! That's just gross! Sally: Anything can happen in the world of fiction. Amy: But the fact is that I am a hedgehog, just like Sonic. We are made for each other! Mina: Hello, you BOTH are just ignoring me because I haven't had as many encounters with Sonic. I actually risked my life to save the one he "loves" in issue #123. Cream: Okay, I think it's time to call it a night before everybody gets out of hand! With all of the arguing, I can safely say that we can't decide who should end up with Sonic. Maybe Mr. Naka's words will come true. Only time will tell. Be sure to catch the next episode when we talk about the tragedy of hair loss. Our guests will be Antoine, Robotnik, and Snively. Thanks for watching. Transcript provided by Silver Starr www.geocities.com/silverstarr3224/
