Sonic the
Hedgehog (SatAM)
Sonic the Hedgehog was a cartoon came out in 1993 and aired on
ABC on Saturday mornings. Fans later came up with the name SatAM
since it was shorter to type. Although Sonic, Tails, and Robotnik
originate from the games, the freedom fighters (Sonic’s friends) correspond
with the comic published by Archie Comics. Some changes were made
to these characters, which came as a surprise to fans of the comic such
as myself. One major change was Sally’s color changing from pink
to brown. These changes were later adapted by the comic (Sally
was colored brown for the first time in issue #16).
Although SatAM was popular, the show was eventually aired at
the same time as the Power Rangers and ratings dropped. The show
was cancelled even though there were plans for a third season.
