What is the 32x Tournament?

The 32x Tournament is a contest held every year to decide which is the best Sonic character according to visitors of Sonic's Hideaway. There are 32 different characters that compete for this title. Each week a different match is held, and the winner advances to the next match. Matches are grouped into four brackets: Station Square, Mystic Ruins, Egg Carrier, and Green Hill. The winner of each bracket advances to the final bracket, appropriately named Final Zone (off of the last stage in the original Sonic the Hedgehog game for Genesis). In the event of a tie, Silver Starr casts the final vote.

Each year, one character is voted off of the tournament to allow a new character to join the competition. Starting in 2009, one of the characters that was voted off will be given the opportunity to rejoin the tournament. Which character leaves and/or joins is determined by a vote held before the start of the tournament. The tournament typically begins during the month of March and ends in October. The tournament bracket is developed by Silver Starr and Rei the Squirrel based on how they individually rank the characters.

Past winners of the 32x Tournament include:

2004: Tails
2005: Tails
2006: Cream
2007: Knuckles
2008: Chaos
