Consisting of only two infantry platoons and one command platoon, these boys have come a long way since their origin. All macronian forces were once upon a time squadrons of rough riders. But then came the Great Resistance.
Occuring in Planet Year 1986, approximately year 39,998. The Great Resistance united all of Macronia. In the Great Resistance the Tyranids had tried to invade the planet. Having tracked this threat the Imperial Guard began landing troops and the leaders of Macronia agreed to unite and become a planet in Imperium Territory. The Macronians were finally modernised with tanks, better weaponry and a better understanding of the universe. During the fight against the Tyranids the Orks used the ensuing confusion to their advantage and tried to take the capital city of Macross. Cpt. Maxwell's grandfather, Cpt. Steudl used his rough rider forces to full potential and averted a possible downfall of the Macronian Gov't. While Steudl was only 18 when this occured, he was MIA afterward. Needless to say the Tyranids were driven away with minimal losses to the planet.
Shortly thereafter Maxwell was born and inducted into the military at age 6 due to unknown circumstances. After 10 years of fighting with the 367th, the 405th was born and after 5 years they've reached their current status. Having seen war on all scales the 405th served with many other Imperial guard regiments.
All 405th personnel are cross trained with Valhallans, Tallarn, Cadians, Catachans, Mordian.
It was in the seige of Thyglo that the 405th made their mark. Thyglo was Macronia's sister planet. Chaos forces had seen it as a valuable asset in their attempt to claim Macronia. The planet of Thyglo had recently been hit by a meteor that caused a long winter which to this day refuses to die down. The planet's people had been forced to seek shelter elsewhere. After repeated attempts to drive the Chaos forces back by the Valhallans, the 405th stepped in. Determined to see that Thyglo remained unviolated by the chaos, Cpt. Maxwell drew all his forces and focused them on a key point between the continent that Chaos had overran and their next target. The 405th had spent months fortifying their position in preparation to make contact with Chaos and for months the battle raged on, despite losing a majority of their forces the 405th went on to drive the Chaos Forces back and off the planet. Soon afterward Chaos had been completely purged from that sector of the galaxy.
Most recently on the Campaign of Fesce the 405th had attempted to save the planet, but after one month it had become apparent that the planetary resources would be too low after victory, so for strategic purposes the planet was slated to be barraged. Maxwell, seeing no other option, relocated the civilians to habitted moons and asked to order the 222nd to launch the barrage. permission was granted and as Maxwell had promised the Fescians, they were relocated to comfortable areas.
