it's only been a few days and the 405th are still fighting strong! Capt. Maxwell is out there fighting with his boys and we will have a new report as soon as Maxwell sends us one.
10/20/02
at the field of Prautou the 405th had fortifyed their positions. chaos forces had been attacked from the left flank due to excellent camoflouging. the battle raged on for hours, only to turn in favor of the 405th. in the last stages of this battle Capt. Maxwell had personally led 30 soldiers on a do or die assault on the remaining Chaos Space Marines numbering 16. despite the wounds they suffered in the assault, and Maxwell having taken a nasty slice to his right shoulder, they succeeded to win this one and moved on to the city of Prasci.
in the city of Prasci the 405th had found nothing but ruins. when they finally had stopped on the north edge of the city they had fortified their positions. all the wounded from Prautou had been tended to and all were edemed able to fight. it had not been but 3 hours before chaos forces drove right into the center of a guerrilla style assault from the 405th.
they hadn't dressed in urban scheme camoflouge, and needn't do so in this fight because working in the dust and rubble had greyed them so dark they had begun to blend in a little. the only things that weren't dusty were the tanks.
before the chaos forces had time to react, the 405th gave them a rain of fire that killed many, and wounded twice as much. the 405th fought bravely against many chaos tanks, with many of their griffons making their way to the rest point there were sudden and accurate mortar barrages on many key points of the chaos force.the battle raged well into the planet's night and the chaos fought hard, but fortunately the people of Fesce know how to build buildings...or at least rubble. their cover had protected the 405th from any major casualties.
the 405th tanks had moved around to seek cover in the heat of confusion, from there they added to the fury with a barrage of the artillery they carried, with the mortar barrages increasing in volume. the chaos tried to call in an aerial strike, but the two bombers were quickly dealt away with by the Hydra flak tanks of the 405th. to counter this, Maxwell ordered an orbital barrage of all known chaos airfields. and after having fought for a long time with other chaos forces in Prasci coming to assist their falling bretherin, within 8 hours planet time, all chaos forces had been expelled from Prasci and Prautou.
after the battle of Prasci had it's hard victory claimed, the 405th rendezvoused with their stragglers. after the other half of their forces had caught up the recieved a distress call from a Guard held position a few miles away. a temple that was evacuated and guarded by the Sisters of Battle came under attack. maxwell and his boys began to head over there. no report on that battle as of yet.
11/16/02:
due to uncontrollable variations it took the 405th a while to get to the temple, once they arrived they found Chaos was just a few yards from breaking weak defenses at the temple. Maxwell ordered an Artillery barrage from the Basilisks and other such vehicles. the shells hit their designated targets just behind the Chaos, thereby lowering the numbers, then out of a dense line of trees maxwell's company charged in. shortly after taking point to cover the other incoming men, ace had taken one round in his right arm.after fighting long and hard from 10/21-the date of this report the fighting at the temple was over, many soldiers had been wounded in the fray, but all had been tended to accordingly.the 405th will continue to rest here until their soldiers are all fully combat capable.
12/05/02:
after a short comms breach due to atmospheric conditions we have been informed that our boys are close to finishing up here and moving on to the next continent where, hopefully, another victory will be claimed.
the 405th's fighter-craft (lightning, lightning strike variant) squadrons have been brought to the planet's surface and are expected to be in action in the next couple of days, just in time for the next scenario of the campaign. however the bombers (marauder, marauder destroyer) have been delayed due to an insignificant need for them. Maxwell does plan to have them ready for strategic bombing missions, when the time comes.
after resting up at the temple, the 405th packed up and shipped out again. approx. two days of uninterfered marching distance away from the ocean on the northern side of Forteg. the most recent action seen was shortly after having dug trenches to guard the camp set up prior to the attack. a light recon of Chaos was encountered and quickly dispelled. after a few hours the 405th packed up camp and moved out once more, only to be caught in an ambush meant for a Cadian Platoon that was in recon for the 405th. no casualties there.
Maxwell has begun sending strategic plans for the next campaign to take place on the Frest Continent.
12/06/02:
BAMMO! the 405th has clashed with Chaos again! the infantry had dug in while the armored and artillery took up flanking positions. when the trenchlines had encountered Chaos, Arty had broken them apart by shelling the middle of their forces. then armoured came in from the eastern and western flanks to strangle them.then infantry came up out of the trenches and advanced forward with cover fire from artillery. the choke still continues and we'll update as the reports come in.
