VIEWTIFUL JOE
REVIEW
Concept It's the classic Mario rescue Peach situation when Joe's girlfriend Silvia is captured by the movie they're watching and Joe jumps in to save her. Despite the cliched storyline, Viewtiful Joe also has some defining features, like the game-altering VFX powers which make for some creative puzzles. Score: 5/5 Graphics The game has a 2D but 3D visual style, sort of like Paper Mario, but more heavily inked. It's interesting none the less and looks great. Score: 5/5 Sound Movie like soundtrack, expected since the game takes place inside of a movie. So-so voice-acting, too. Score: 4/5 Playability Good controls. Joe's VFX powers are controlled by the buttons on top of the controller (L, R, Z). Score: 5/5 Entertainment The action sequences and puzzles blend nicely to create a fun game that many gamers will enjoy. Score: 5/5 Replay Value Moderately High. Games like this generally don't have a high replay value, but because of the score system, you can keep going back and trying to beat your score on each level. Score: 4/5 OVERALL: 9.3/10
