Concept
Super Smash Bros. for N64 was one of the first great fighting games.  The familiar characters, unique locations, and fun items made it great.  Super Smash Bros. Melee takes that same formula and makes it even better, by adding more characters, stages, items, modes, and unlockables. Score:
5/5
Graphics
One of the best looking games on Gamecube, surprising considering it came out so close to the system's release.  The characters and stages are sharp, and the special effects aren't half-bad either. Score:
5/5
Sound
Lots of familiar Nintendo themes on the stages, and nice-sounding (as opposed to cheesy-sounding) character voice clips.  Score:
5/5
Playability
Though the controls may be complicated for an inexperienced gamer, they're easy to pick up and learn. Score:
5/5
Entertainment
One of the most fun games to play multiplayer.  The single player modes are great for when there's no one to play with, but the multiplayer is where this game really shines. Score:
5/5
Replay Value
High.  The replay value of SSBM is nearly unlimited.  There are always new set-ups to try out, there are lots of characters, it's just an endless amount of gameplay shoved into one little Gamecube disc. Score:
5/5
