MARIO PARTY 4
REVIEW
Concept By the fourth installment of the series, the Mario Party idea doesn't seem quite as unique anymore. But it is still a fun game and the mini-games are always a blast. There's always a storyline that is supposedly the reason for the party (in this case something about a birthday party), but it's never a very big part of the game. They also introduced the Mini-Mega system in this game, but it's more of a gimmick than anything. Score: 3/5 Graphics Definitely better looking than the Nintendo 64 games, but that's not that hard and these are still not all that impressive. Score: 4/5 Sound Repetitive board background music, similar music for the mini-games, and sometimes annoying character voices. The music does have Mario flair though, and some of it is quite catchy. Score: 4/5 Playability The controls can't get much simpler when you are moving around the board, and the mini-games each have an explanation right before the game. Score: 5/5 Entertainment That's the thing, Mario Party games are fun. They may not keep you occupied forever, but if you can manage to get some friends together, it's a blast. Score: 5/5 Replay Value Moderate. You can go back and play through the story mode as every character over and over again, but the only motivation is a little birthday gift. Once you've unlocked everything, and there's not much, and played through each board a few times, you probably won't play until the next Mario Party. Score: 3/5 OVERALL: 8/10
