Happy Holidays to everyone.

2004 is almost over, I hope everyone had a successful year. We have many plans for 2005, and for our club to be successful, everyone must participate in some way.

Old Business

Our model horse show in October was a huge success. A big thank you to all who helped make it a success. We are planning at least two more, possible three model horse shows in 2005 due to multiple requests from participants. The model shows are great fundraisers that do not take a lot of work.

In regards to the money raised by the model show, it was voted on to use the money to go to Arabian Knights Diner Theater in Orlando.

New Business

 Another suggestion, which will have to be voted on, is to use the money to go to BreyerFest in Kentucky, which is the last weekend in July. We can also use the money to buy club jackets. Ballots are included with this newsletter.

 Another issue with the money raised at the model horse show is club participation. Only three members, two leaders, and one parent helped at the model horse show. By rights, only those who helped should have their tickets paid to go to Arabian Knights. Those who did not participate should not benefit from others labor. This will also be put to a vote and is counted on enclosed ballot.

 At this point, the only ones who helped at the model horse show and should have their tickets paid for are Christina Arteaga, Sarah Barbarie, and Jenny Clauson.

 January 15-16 is the Horse Trials at Canterbury. They need help again and if anyone is interested Christina, Sarah, and I will be there.

 Alachua County Youth Fair is February 18-22 at the Alachua County Fairgrounds. I would like to see as many members as possible doing exhibits and record books. Record books are due to the extension office February 12, 2005. We will have a meeting January to fill them out. Everyone should have a book as Mary passed them out at the last meeting. Anyone not having one contact Mary at 472-5398 or Donna at 472-2672.

 Anyone not owning a horse will have to fill out a lease agreement. Mary or I will get them from the 4-H office.

 The next 4-H horse show is March 19, 2005. If you want to ride and don't have a horse, the following applies:

1. You must take lessons weekly (barring bad weather)
2. You must show up at the weekly horse show practices, which will start the second week in January. If you miss more than 2 practices you will not be allowed to ride in the show
3. You will be assigned a horse and that is the horse you will ride and care for to include tack
4. You must own your own riding clothes to include helmet, boots, breeches, shirt, and gloves

 We will begin horse shows at Old Oak Farm March 26. We will have four dressage/jumping/cross country shows. The same horse show rules apply.

 We will also have a practice, pre-show here at the farm to help everyone prepare for the larger shows. All who participate will ride and dress as if they are at a regular show. Christina, Mary, Sarah, and I will be judges with the opportunity for 4-H members to judge each other.

 This year we will be participating in the 4-H horse shows at Canterbury. The dressage, jumper and horse trials at Canterbury, and dressage and jumper show at Circle M in High Springs. The horse shows at Old Oak Farm will be dressage, jumper, and cross-country shows with year-end awards. A list of known dates is enclosed.

 We will also be doing a lot of trail riding and training with our two babies, Dj vu, and Cest La Vie.

 If anyone has any additional news for the newsletter, please let Donna or Christina know or send an email to: [email protected]

Congratulations are in Order

I want to see many names here this year!
