Well have we are - We have all survived the first week of school.

Let's reflect on this week...

Sweat pouring off us all, the A/C was broken for the first day of the new school year.

The spirit shirts were a big hit and the two most popular sizes Youth Medium and Large sold out really quick.

The Rizo went down, and then went missing. And now we await it's replacement.

So, other then those things we started this school year off with a bang!!

OK...On to more positive not!

Ann Marie is pushing that PTA Membership. We are fast approaching our goal. With any luck Open House should get us there!

James has received information regarding a sure way to fundraise, CHUCK E. CHEESE! Maybe this one should be called a FUN raiser.

Terrie has been meeting with the school staff, always keeping one step ahead of the next school function.

Stacey, poor Stacey, all these recent events and PTA good fortune has left her with paper cuts from the counting and recounting off money and checks.

And Andrea, Are you ready for your first Cracker Barrel experience?? Be careful to keep the crumbs off the minutes as you enjoy the best breakfast in town!

Anyway, all is up and running. This week we will have Open House and we hope to receive our Spirit shirt replenishment prior to Wednesday. And remember, Friday is the Volunteer Breakfast. Come and relax after all you are the best of the best when it comes to volunteers! You deserve it!!

Current Happenings...

James has recently met with Fun Services and they are offering to up the free stuff we will receive for the carnival from $700 to $1700. This will be a huge benefit to our school. With all that free stuff it will turn into a great fundraiser for us. Therefore the fundraisers will be: Fall catalog (Beg. of school), Holiday gift shop (Holidays), and cookie dough (Spring). James is also working on trying to get landyards for our teachers for the welcome back breakfast.

The Spirit T-Shirt has been designed and ordered we will soon have a copy of the images prior to them going to print. They will be ready for Orientation Day. We have also received the donated shirts from Planet T.

Well everyone knows that our Treasurer has moved on and we wish her all the best. But we have a great newsflash!! Stacey has decided to be our treasurer. We are pleased to have her take Dawn's place. We are confident that she will do a wonderful job!

James will be leaving Friday for Innisbrooke for the PTA Convention. We look forward to hearing all the great things he will learn while he is away. Have a safe trip!

The order has been placed for the instruments that will be given to the teachers as well as the office, cafeteria, and janitorial staff. We also ordered the travel coffee mugs, they will be a great surprise for the Welcome Back Breakfast!

Currently, the centerpieces for the tables at the Welcome Back Breakfast, are under construction at Joi's house.

We have been lucky enough for the County Council Treasurer, Terrie, to come and lend her time and expertise to assist us in the audit for last school year as well as filing the taxes. All is in order to begin the 2006-2007 school year on a positive note!

That is all for now. Until next time...

This is going to be updated to keep all the Board Members abreast of what is going on in the background! Hope it is informative for all. Any information you would like added email me. Thanks, Joi.

The laptop and other electronic equipment, an accomplishment of Stephanie Liguori and the others from the 2005-2006 board, have arrived. Thanks Stephanie for all your hard work!

Ann Marie has located sleaveless polo shirts and contacted Planet T to have the logo printed on them. Kudos to Ann Marie!

Andrea Taylor is doing a great job with the minutes, Thanks Andrea!

Ann Marie is busy getting ready for the big membership drive. If you have any ideas please call Ann Marie. And she could use some help at the orientation getting those parents signed up!!!

A spanish speaking volunteer might help! You go Ann Marie!

We are still brainstorming centerpieces; flowers, music notes, candles... and Terrie was able to get the table linens donated from a contact of hers, Great going Terrie!

The idea is that each grade level will represent a different instrument, we are looking for inexpensive plastic rendisions of instruments to give to the teachers and staff at the Welcome Breakfast, with Miss Iudica being the conductor and the PTA being the band.

Joi has been researching for instruments and has located a variety of items.

We have also come up with the idea of an electronic vote. There are just some things that need to be decided on prior to the next PTA meeting. So we are interested in implementing an electronic voting system so that all board members will have a say in the choices that are made. Think about it and get back to Terrie with your answer.

A website has been created for the PTA! Please check it out at:

http://www.geocities.com/silvershorespta/PTAhome.html.

Let me know what you think about the site and if you would like to have something added.
