Flair tells WCW Magazine: “Question: After saying no throughout your career to promoters who wanted to shave off your trademark blond hair, why did you agree to do it last summer for Vince Russo? Answer: It’s not that I decided to do it for Vince. I decided to do it because the company asked me to, and at that particular time Vince was one of the people running the company. Actually, Eric Bischoff was just as involved as Vince in asking me to do it. They originally talked about just cutting my hair, but then they wanted to shave my head to really make a statement. As usual, I didn’t have a problem with being a company guy. It was a good shot in the arm for my kid, and it didn’t matter to me whether I walked around with blond hair or not. I don’t think they ever thought I wouldn’t do it. It was something I was glad to do if it was part of the storyline. In the past promoters wanted to do it because hair matches were a big deal I the old days. I haven’t really been asked to do it in about 10 years. It was a big deal from the standpoint that it was the first time it happened to me. I’m at the point right now where there’s not a whole bunch more that I can accomplish.” |
