Flair remembers: “That’s when all the politics came into play. I remember a lot of the guys thought it was cool when I won it from Savage, but if they knew all that went into that. Five guys had to hold Savage down: Benoit, Arn, Dean Malenko, Mongo McMichael, and Brian Pillman. That wasn’t like winning a world title, it was absolutely absurd. That’s appeasing somebody.”
