When asked about dropping the title on Dave Meltzer's Eyada show, Flair remembered: "Yeah, I had the inner-ear thing and I had that and I still wasn't over that. And I don't know if that influenced the decision to do it or not, but at that point, I did it that day and ended up being off for about five months. Remember that - as a result of that thing. So, I don't know. It was just one of those things. They made up their mind and probably had a booking meeting and said, 'We have to make some changes here' because Hulk had left at that point, Roddy had left, and I'm not sure if they were trying to build a new babyface or exactly what they were doing, but it just came down that day."
