Flair remembers: “A huge honor for me. The Royal Rumble was one of the top three or four greatest nights of my life. Look at the names of the guys who were in the ring with me that night. So many of them are classic names in this business: Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Kerry Von Erich, Hulk Hogan, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Undertaker, etc. For that era, everybody that was anybody was in that ring. It was an emotional night. I shared that emotion with a few people. It built all the self-esteem back in me that I had lost during the time Crockett sold the company to Turner, when they couldn’t figure out enough ways to bury me.” |
