the next life

walking away

My steps were strong and so sincere,
this time there was no looking back.
As I felt in my eyes form a tear,
I tried to forget what I might lack.

My thoughts were set to the horizon,
I knew there was no way I could return.
As my feet carried me in the right direction,
I felt I'd reach what for I'd yearned.

My choice was right and it was clear,
my heart had told me to turn around.
Yet I wasn't sure if I could bear
the feeling of being eternally unbound.

I felt the hard asphalt beyond my feet,
and a tear rolled down my face.
I was not sure where the future would lead,
neither if I'd ever again feel this grace.

I felt the cool wind blow through my hair,
it gently wiped away my tears.
I put a desperate smile on my cheeks,
knowing home would forever be here.

I love you mom.
