Last Thursday night jazz band played their festival pieces for the other seminole county jazz bands in a concert at seminole high school.

The All-County Band is now history.  At the concert they played: Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare, Andrea Chenier Overture, Toccata, Adagio & Fugue in C major, Dance Movements, and Rolling Thunder (heheh).   Congrats goes out again to Katie Bartlett, Katie D, Sarah F., Jeremy G, Brandon Kahn, Candace Lauder, Danny Lee, Andrew Lisa,  Adam Markowitz, Michael Mekker, Clarence Mims, Luis Rivera, Emmanuel Tormes and for participating.  Look for a special newsflash story coming later this week

Solo and Ensemble This Weekend

Solo and Ensemble sign up has come and gone pretty smoothly.  The Silver Regiment will be participating with quite a few ensembles, woodwind/brass choir, and jazz band.  Jazz Band will be the Friday, with the choir's going Saturday Afternoon.

Student Conductor Named
As of 2/06 -- Top

Jeremy Goldberg (1999 Silver Regiment Drum Major, 1997-1998 Trumpet Section Leader, and currently sitting as first chair trumpet in wind ensemble) was named this week as the Student Conductor representing Lake Howell at District/State Festival.  He will led wind ensemble playing a Welish Rhapsody.

This Thursday the Silver Regiment will be performing for the freshmen orientation playing Imperial March, and the marching show.  Marching Instruments will therefore be used in class for this week.

F.B.A. District Concert: Preparations

Christmas Break is over, and Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band are now preparing for Concert Festival.  A list of song include from Wind Ensemble:   March Op. 99 by Sergei Prokofieff, Variants on a Mediaeval Tune by Norman Dello Joio, and Pageant by Vincent Persichetti. 

Jazz Band Prepares for multi cultural day

This next Friday Jazz Band will be featured in Lake Howell's annual mulit-cultural day!  This year they will be playing Aboard on four by Lennie Niehaus.

All-State is this weekend!

This Thursday marks the beginning of All-State rehearsals.  Congrats to the following people for making it: Jeremy Goldberg, Luis Rivera, Candace Lauder, Benjamin Siress.  These students will be missing school Thursday and Friday, and the concerts will be held throughout the day on Saturday.

New Tuba Arrives:

A early Christmas Present was delivered the day before school ending with a brand spanking new tuba being delivered. This tuba is an example of what fundraising money can do, and how that fundraising can help the band.

Winter Concert Over
As of 12/18 -- Top

Last Thursday we had our annual Winter Concert in the LHHS Auditorium.  Both Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble, plus jazz band played, with the color guard supporting them in the audience.  The highlight of the night was when Wind Ensemble performed a heartbreaking song entitled "Watchmen, tell us of the night."

By the way, welcome to the new Silver Regiment website entitled Silver Regiment 2000.  Yes, it's a stupid title, and this page has gone through 4 different names in the past year ( Silver Regiment Homepage, Silver Regiment Weekly, Silver Regiment Today, a few others too!).  Anyhoo, as you may be able to tell, I'm still working on a lot, so if it all doesn't work, it will one day :-).
