POEM OF LOSS
By
anonymous

Brought to a child I am feeble in all that I do.
What is this thing that you have brought to bear unto me?
Where is the fearless mantle I once wore?
Naked in your once warm embrace,
I now find the kindness of a corpse.
Enveloped in the shadowy recesses of your soul,
I cry out to anyone,
Only to feel the effort grow faint within me.
Suddenly I am filled with the sense of dread.
The constant echoing resonance tearing into my soul
Brings such horror to all that I know.
The night lays to waste, as an open grave,
The remembrance of memories long shared,
That lie in the loss of a pilfered treasure.
