These words are taken from a book called "From the Heart: Voices of the American Indian" edited and with narrative by Lee Miller. I was deeply affected by many of these quotes and that is why I wanted to share them. Many of them are emotionally disturbing, so be warned, you may not like what you are reading. But the messages they are sending are very powerful. I had to represent both sides, and I chose the words that affected me most strongly. They are not pretty words. They reflect the ignorance of the people of that time. And the barbarous tendencies of a people who thought they were doing what was right, by trying to destroy something they didn't understand..... a race of people. And the eloquence of those who were fighting for the lives of their people.
