| The Story: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This is the very first episode of Xena. Xena buries her armor and is on her way home when a band of thugs crosses her path. She fights them(duh) and ends up saving the villagers whom they have captured(Gabrielle among them). After a short meeting with Gabrielle who is in awe of the warrior princess, Xena meets up with Draco, a warlord from her past. His men were the ones she beat up. She convinces him to spare Gabrielle's village which he agrees to do. However, he is determined to show Xena that "there's no rest for the wicked" so he orders an attack on her village. Xena finally returns home and enters the tavern where her mother works. The villagers are very mistrustful of her and despite her attempts to convince them to prepare for Draco's attack, they will not listen. Meanwhile, Gabrielle is hot on her tail, and after cleverly outwitting a cyclops and hitching a ride, she arrives in Amphipolis. When the villagers hear that Draco's army(posing as Xena's ) is nearing the village, they nearly stone Xena. However, Gabrielle shows her persuasive side and she and Xena depart unharmed. Draco comes, Xena challenges him, they fight. A very interesting battle takes place on an unstable catwalk and on the heads and shoulders of innocent bystanders. Xena defeats Draco and he clears out of the valley. The villagers praise Xena and she departs in triumph(sort of). By the end of the episode Xena grudgingly lets Gabrielle tag along. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
