It is important to realize that God does allow grief to come upon us.  Sometimes, it's easy to blame God and be angry with him for "making" us suffer.  Lamentations bares the full horror of suffering, yet offers hope based on the character of God.  He's not a God to stay angry.  He's quick to forgive and He is forever compassionate.  Our duty is to accept fully the grief and quietly meditate on its meaning while waiting for God to reveal Himself and His will to us.  Quite times are important to us and to God--especially when we're troubled or struggling.  Being silent gives us a chance to think about our struggles and what they may mean.  More importantly, quite times with God gives Him the opportunity to speak to us.  If we continually ask "Why?" without ceasing, God doesn't have the chance to answer.  It's in those quite times that God speaks directly to us--and although He may not answer immediately, His voice gives comforting and reassurance.  God is Good!
