In one corner we have two computer builders who supplied sleep clinic with the necessary technology to properly read the patients thought waves. But if the technology can read the output, it can be rigged to send an imput. The computer whizzes hired out their talents to people looking to have enemies assasinated. If you went to a sleep clinic you would be bombarded with images of the target and subliminal messages would be sent that would cause you to go out and kill the target. Then the patient would kill themselves, therefore eliminating any chance of the assasinations being connected. Unfortunatly for the computer whizzes, the Keeper was one of the patients and Darien and Hobbes were not going to let her succeed at her task. Nor would they rest until they found out who had messed with her mind
In the other corner we have the Keeper. Scientest, friend, confidant, expert marksman with a pistol. She was brainwashed to believe that a important political man was out to kill her, though she did not know the name of the man she was trying to kill. her obsession with killing the man before he killed her lead to her needing to be restrained withen her lab with guards at the door to make sure that she did not get out before Darien and Hobbes solved the case. Because the agency did not have the ability to remove the brainwashing, they instead let the scenario play out in her mind, in her sleep to break the cycle. If she went through the murder and suicide in her subconcious then she would no longer desire to do so in the real world.

A goverment sniper turned agent, that had only one failed mission on his record. He fixed that when he killed his target years later. Unfortunately that ex-US enemy was now an ally (dont you hate it when that happens). The only witness to the assasination was an 8 year old girl with a invisible friend, Ralph. She withdrew into a shell after the incidient because she believed that it had been a monster, having only seen the infra red light coming from the shadows. Darien "impersonated" ralph to learn what she knew and if it would help crack who the assasin was. The agent tried to kill the girl, not knowing that she could not identify him. After shooting Darien, and tracking the girl back to the woods thast it all happened at, the final confrontation occured. With Darien going qsm when protecting the girl, thereby attacking the agent. In the end, all went well, the girl was safe, the agent was exposed and Darien got his counter agent shot.

Scarsbourgh, a blind man with "psychic"powers. Or does he? Those that believe he does tend to committ suicide, when told that they are going to harm those around them. So to avoid hurting their loved ones, Scarsbourgh tells them to kill themselves. The agency gets wind of this and put their agents to the case. Now at the time Darien's been having nightmares where he shoots Hobbes. And Scarsbourgh jumps right on it, predicting he has been haing them, and that he needs to take measures to prevent the dream from coming true. While Darien wrestles with believing the "serial killer" or seeing it as a fake, Hobbes shows that the man is not all knowing, and that the daughter is a bit of a loon also. Darien does attack Hobbes while QSM, which leads to the implantation of the tattoo/monitor of qs in his bloodstream.
