For the torture called the witches cradle the accused would be tied up inside of a sack. They would then be hung up by a tree limb and the sack pushed so that it would swing. The swinging of the sack made the accused witch become disoriented and unknowingly admit to almost anything. They also often suffered hallucinations after being hung up for a length of time. This would also have added colourful stories to their delirious confessions. |
