| Thrawing was a popular torture method in Scotland. The practice consisted of the accused witches head being bound with ropes and then violently jerked from side to side. The pain and damage caused to the neck would have been indescribable. A painful refinement of this unforgiving method was to have ropes attached to a collar studded with sharpened spikes. | ||||||||||||
