The victim was tied to the rack by the ankles and wrists. There were rollers on either end of the contraption that, when turned, would pull the body in opposite directions until every joint in the victim�s body was dislocated. The unfortunate sufferer would be stretched for days at a time in order to obtain a confession. This torture was not used in England or Scotland, but was widely used in Continental Europe, especially in France. |
