| The pear was an instrument of terror that could be used in many ways. It was forced into an accused persons orifice, favouring mouth, rectum or vagina. The instrument was then expanded by force of a screw until it was fully engorged. The end forced into the orifice boasted sharp pointed tips. These tips tore the cavity apart, almost always fatally so. The pear was often used on women who were thought to have had sexual union with the devil or associates. | ||||||||||||||
