Impalement was an uncommon torture, but there are accounts of it being used. The event consisted of the accused person receiving a length of sharply pointed stake being forced into the anus. The stake is then forced through the victim until it comes out through their skull or throat. The stake was then planted into the ground where the victim is left to slowly die after a few days and finally decay. Another version of this style of torture was to use a smaller stake, which is forced permanently into the anus. The recipient was then forced to crawl until they died, as walking after this procedure was near impossible. |
