| The Heretic�s fork was a device consisting of a collar and iron rod. Attached to the iron rod were four sharp points on the ends, which were then rammed into the flesh of the accused person between their chin and bone of the sternum. The collar provided great discomfort to the wearer and prevented movement of the head. It also left the wearer to speak in murmur as the points dug into their sternum. �Abiuro� (�I recant�) was said to be engraved on one side of the fork. | ||||||||||||||||
