Ostara
Balancing of the light...of the worlds...of ourselves.
Guest1 will light all candles, and extinguish them when needed.
"Ostara...the vernal equinox...a point on the Wheel of the Year when light and darkness are balanced; day and night are equal. The Earth opens Her eyes, Her heart a flutter as She hears the approach of Her lover, the Sun God. He approaches Her, growing stronger with each stride; he chases away the cold and the shadows, melting the snow that lay on His Lady like a white blanket. And she dresses for him in the pale greens of new leaves and the pastel shades of spring flowers. At Beltane She will welcome Him with an Embrace, but for now...she prepares. She awakens. What do we see in Her eyes that now open after winter's slumber? What omens will greet Her children as the Great Mother Awakens? Will we be able to tell the shadows from the light? Can we hear Her whisper on the wind? Are we prepared for Her awakening?"

HPS12:
"On this day, we celebrate the balance of darkness and light. Ostara, our name for the Vernal Equinox, falls 2 days from now; can we feel the Earth stirring beneath our feet? Do we, each and everyone, know what it feels like to be balanced? Have you ever felt your inner pendulum swinging; and felt the pauses at the bottom of the downswings, and the apex of the arcs? If you do, it's a sign that you're in touch with your natural rhythms, and the rhythms of the Earth. If not, it merely means that you know what to work on it you wish to get more in tune with the cycle of the Wheel of the Year."
HPS1:
"Balance is a Witches life. To walk in harmony is her goal, to attain that balance, to be able to walk in harmony is a lifelong lesson. But we do not stagnantly sit in the middle like those unable to choose sides in a situation...no, we, like the pendulum, swing...sometimes in wide space, sometimes erratically, sometimes gently, minority...and sometimes minutely. But we know our centers..or points of balance. And if we don't know them, we seek them, even if it means searching all our lives. It is our Path; it is our Craft."
HPS2:
"So Tuesday, stop in your day to feel the balance. Find the complimentary balance within, or the balance point you strive to find. This is the sacred pause when the World Egg can balance on it's end; can you?"
A bowl of white eggs is brought out. The Coveners take the white or clear crayons and draw symbols on the eggs, opening themselves up for the gods to give messages to each other with. After everyone takes an egg, HPS1 says:
"Great Mother and Father, we ask you now for your wisdom. We all must find that center point of balance around which we will act; help us now to find it. Give us the symbols to speak this wisdom to each other. So mote it be.
Coven echoes, "so mote it be."
The coven proceeds to cover eggs in designs...designs that will be invisible until they are colored.
Now, the coven cuts a door and goes out on an egg hunt!
Priestess:
"Now, it is our duty to go and search for signs of spring, for signs of the Earth's Renewal! Let us go and seek the wisdom of the reunion of Mother Earth and Father Sun!"
Coven returns for cakes and ale.
Blessings of milk: Dedicate & Priestess
Blessing of Cakes: HPS12 and HPS2
The basket of eggs are brought out; the Coveners and guests prepare the dye vats. They may open their hunted eggs and devour their treats, and share the revelations they may contain...or puzzle out the meanings of the ramblings. The Coveners and guests all choose eggs, each choosing one egg and passing it around the circle until all eggs are taken. Then, let the dyeing begin!
Coven discusses egg meanings, then thanks gods, elements, and close circle.
