First, we had a full moon cerimony for the upcoming full moon which was the following thursday. So we decided to combine the rituals that sunday night. Here is the ritual in it's entirety.

We did this ritual on the horse farm that Blackwood lives on, in a field we have named "Mystic Circle" (in honor of the stallion named Mystic whose paddock it was for a years).

The Lamp of Art is lit on the alter with the words "The lamp is lit; the ritual has begun."

The coven gorunds and centers.

Foxglove says,
"This is the time of fullness, the flood tide of power, when the Lady in full circle of brightness rides across the night sky, arising with the coming of dark. This is the time of the bearing of fruits, of change realized. The Great Mother, nurturer of the world, which is Herself, pours out Her love and Her gifts in abundance. The Hunter draws neat to the Brilliant One, She who awakens yearning in the heart and who is the end of all desire. We who look on Her shining face are filled with love."

Wolfwings takes the cup of water, and with an athame puts some salt into it, and says as she plunges the blade into the chalice,
"Mother Goddess, Father God, bless this salt and water, make it pure and clean, to cleanse this circle."

Wolfwings then takes the chalice of salted water and aspurges the perimeter of the circle, saying,
"blessed be this circle, cleansed by Earth and Water."

Foxglove takes the incense and puts it on the already ignited charcoal, with the words,
"blessed be this creature of Fire and Air, with which I will charge this sacred space."

Foxglove then goes around the circle, censing it, saying at each quarter,
"With Fire and Air I charge the North; with Fire and Air I charge the East; with Fire and Air I charge the South; with Fire and Air I charge the West."

Blackwood then casts the circle, saying,
"I cast this circle, a place between the worlds, seperating it in all time, and in all space, from the world of the mundane. Let it be a temple to the gods, sacred and safe. So mote it be."

Wolfwings goes to the North quarter, and inkokes the element of Earth thusly:
"Hail, North, Powers of the Earth; place of fertility, mountains, and snow. Lend your power to this, our rite of the moon. Hail, and welcome."
All echo, "hail, and welcome."

Blackwood steps to the East and calls forth the powers of Air:
"Hail, mighty ones of the East, powers of Air. Golden eagle, Dawntreader, whirlwind, hurricane, come! Bring us you stir of creativity, your inspiration, and your wry wit to this, our esbat circle and coven dedication rite. Hail, and welcome."
All echo, "hail, and welcome."

Foxglove strides to the South and asks for the attendence of that quarter:
Hail, guardiands of the watchtowers of the South; powers of Fire. Red dragon, volcano, passion's heat, come to us! Attend us on this night of coven dedication and esbat celebration. Hail, and welcome."
All echo, "hail, and welcome."

Blackwood moves to the West and speaks to it:
Hail, might ones of the West, Powers of Water. Come sea dragon, wise salmon, undines of the deep, come to witness our coven dedication and esbat circle. Hail, and welcome."
All echo, "hail, and welcome."

Wolfwings invokes the goddess with the words:
"Hail, mighty goddess, three-formed and wise. Come and witness our esbat and rite of dedication. Hail, and welcome."
All echo, "hail, and welcome."

Foxglove invokes the god with these words:
"Come, Horned One of the Woods;" Not a clue what comes next, but I know she said "horned one".

Next, Foxglove leads a short narrative, and asks us to think about what we want from the coven, if this is the right move for us, etc. The last few words we will chant, slowly fade as we sink into meditation, and begin to meditate on those concepts.

"Wonderous lady of the Moon,
You who greets the dusk with silvered kisses:
Mistress of the Night, and of all magicks,
Who rides the clouds in blackened skies,
And spills light upon the cold Earth:
Shadow Maker and Shadow Breaker,
Revealer of mysteries past and present:
All-Wise Lunar Mother, we greet your celestial jewel
At the height of it's powers, with a rite in your honor."

"I pray by the moon.....I pray by the moon.....I pray by the moon.....I pray by the moon.....I pray by the moon....."

Meditation follows for a few moments, the results are shared, if coveners wish.

Wolfwings:
"At this sacred time, in this sacred place, we wish to declare before the gods the formation of our new coven, dedicate ourselves to it, and initate one another into it."

Blackwood:
"We who are gathered here, in the sight of the gods and the elements, under the moon and standing fast upon the earth, call upon our own selves to acknowledge the steps we take. We take responsibility for our own actions, our own spirituality, and of our own destinies. In light of this, we declare the foundation of a new coven, the Coven of the Silver Branch."

Foxglove:
"This coven is hived off of our previous coven, Winter Tree, and we pay that institution and experience homage and honor for the learning and love while we were in it. We vow to take the lessons learned there and carry them over into Silver Branch, embellish upon them, and grow wiser."

Each Covener:
"To this coven I bring.....(names a quality or qualities she brings to share)"
"With this coven's help, I will try to overcome.....(names a quality or qualities less desirable)"
"And in this coven, I wish to be known as.....(magickal name)"

Wolfwings:
(taking salt-water from the alter)
"With this Earth and Water, we will cleanse ourselves of all mortal concerns, so that we may be prepared for our new life as sisters within the Coven of the Silver Branch."
(covener then cleanses herself, asperging herself with sprinkles from her fingers, saying...) "Earth and Water, cleanse me now,
judge my heart, hear my vow.
(repeat as necessary. Covener then asperges the other coveners, as they say the chant of cleansing)

Blackwood:
(taking the censor from the alter)
"With this Fire and Air charge ourselves with purpose, power, and love, so that we may be prepared for our new life as sisters within the Coven of the Silver Branch."
(cover then smudges/censes herself, saying...)
"Fire and Air, charge me now,
judge my heart, hear my vow."
(repeat as necessary; covener then smudges/censes the other coveners, as they say the chant of charging)

Foxglove:
"We now pledge ourselves to our Craft; to the gods, to our coven, and to manifesting our will in the world. We take responsibility for our actions and our inactions, for our decisions and their consequences, and we acknowledge our duty to ourselves, the gods, and to others to do so."

Foxglove faces another covener; she places her palms out, facing flat and as if to receive something in her hands. The other covener covers her hands with her own. Foxglove says:

Foxglove:
"Do you freely and solomnly wear to serve the god and goddess, in daily life and in ritual?"

Covener answers

Foxglove:
"Do you freely and solomnly swear to aid your brothers and sisters in the Craft?"

Covener answers

Foxglove:
"Do you freely and solomnly swear to develop and maintain strong, wise and caring relationships with your fellow covenmates, and to always strive to clearly communicate your needs, expectations and resources to them?"

Covener answers

Foxglove:
"Do you freely and solomnly swear to actively participate in coven activities, and to take a fair share of responisbility for planning, organization, and leadership within the coven?"

Covener answers

Foxglove:
"Do you freely and solomnly sear to respect the privacy of your covenmates, insofar as they wish it to be preserved?"

Covener answers

Foxglove:
"Do you freely and solomnly swear to always strive to learn, to teach, and to share the love of the god and goddess with others in the worlds?"

Covener answers

Foxglove:
"Your oath is heard and witnessed; hail, and welcome."

The coveners embrace. The one just sworn then turns to the next covener and takes her oath, who then in turn takes the oath of Foxglove.

Wolfwings:
(takes anointing oil from alter, then blesses oil, saying/doing...)
(holds oil to chest, and visualizes energy from the earth and the sky...from the Mother and the Father...riding up from the earth, up the spine, down the arms, into the hand, into the oil...from the sky, to the crown chakra, traveling down your arms, down to your hands, into the oil...feel the energy...warm from below, cool from above...or the reverse...the Mother and Father bless the oil, put their essesnces into it)
"In the names of the goddess and the god, by the grace of our brothers and sisters the Elements, and in this sacred time and space do I consecrate this oil. Within this substance lies the Power of Creation...the creation of ourselves anew, the power to redefine ourselves, and the blessings of our Lord and Lady."
(covener then anoints not herself, but another covener, drawing a sign we agreed upon as the sign of initiation upon the forehead of the covener with the words...)
"Under the auspices of the Elements, and by the grace of the Lord and Lady, I do hereby anoint you Priestess and Witch. Keep the Charge in your heart, the Rule in your mind, and the Rede in your soul. So Mote it be."

Other coveners answer:

"So mote it be."

Covener just anointed take the oil and anoints the next covener, who in turn anoints Wolfwings with the same process.

Wolfwings:
"Hear me, Lord and Lady! Hear me, Mighty Ones of the Elements! We are renewed in spirit, reborn into a new covenant with you, and with the world! You have heeded our call; you have witnessed our vows. Now, we ask you to acknowledge us as Priestesses, as Witches, and as a new-formed coven!"

Blackwood:
"Hear me, Lord and Lady! Hear me, Mighty Ones of the Elements! We declare a name for our new coven: the Coven of the Silver Branch! We stand united in love and trust, perfection to be persued all the days of our lives, only realized within you, and with you within us."

Foxglove:
"Hear me, Lord and Lady! Hear me, Mighty Ones of the Elements! We were solitary practitioners, working our will and our magick on our own. Our voices were lone, but our magick was strong; our Path was rocky, but our love sure. And now we stand before you, on this night of the waxing moon, to unite our Paths. Therefore, let it be known: I am Foxglove of the Coven of the Silver Branch!"

Blackwood:
"Let it be known: I am Blackwood of the Coven of the Silver Branch!"

Wolfwings:
"Let it be known: I am Wolfwings of the Coven of the Silver Branch!"

Coveners Join hands and shout:

All Coveners:
"We are the Coven of the Silver Branch! So mote it be!"

Blackwood:
Puts athame into cup and says:
As the athame is to the male, so the cup is to the female; and conjoined, they bring blessings."

Foxglove:
Places her hands over the loaf of spice cake and says:
"Blessed be this creature of Earth; mayn it nourish our bodies as the gods nourish our spirits."

The coven has a relaxing time, sharing the milk and cake, talking about the past, and about our future hopes.

thanking-gg.gif - 5677 Bytes

Foxglove:
Raises her hands skyward and says: "Thank you, Great Father, for attending our rite of Covenmaking and full moon circle. Stay if you will, go if you must; hail. and fairwell."
Blows out God candle.

Wolfwings:
Raises her hands skyward and says: "We thank you, Great Mother, for coming and
