in Wyoming, Minnesota. His sire is Dionn, who is by Gwydion, who is by *Bask. His dam is GG Duchess. Barron's bloodlines trace to the most notable of Arabian racing stallions, Samtyr, as well as Fadjur, Bint Sahara, and Negativ. I had hoped for Baron to be an endurance horse, and race in 100 mile races. He can certainly go forever, but he is terribly afraid of water. So it took me awhile to figure out what he would be ideal for. He's fast, can go from a standstill immediately into a heart racing gallop, can make sharp turns, and stop on a dime. He used to be used as a reining and cutting horse, as told by his previous owner. But there isn't too much of that type of riding around where I live. However, my best friend is into barrel racing, and so I finally figured out what I wanted to do with him. He would make a great barrel racing horse. So, I set out in search of a good barrel saddle, and purchased a Martha Josey Ultimate Paywindow barrel saddle. But I will not start racing until this spring. And in the fall when I go to college, I am going to join the rodeo team and board Barron in the Rodeo Barn. So I'm excited for the both of us. In all, Baron is a great horse. It is a shame that some people label the Arabian as "mean" horses, simply because they have spirit and it takes a special type of person to understand them and know how to use that incredible spirit. Friends of mine who have visited my horse cannot believe that an Arabian can be so calm!! I just tell them that they're like any other horse...only BETTER!! |
