| *Aladdinn The Incredible Sire |
| " 'The first time I really got chills was when we released him at liberty for the Saturday night finals crowd at the 1998 Scottsdale Show. It was then I first began to understand his power, his own particular brand of magic.' "(p.54 in Marian K. Carpenter's Arabian Legends). *Aladdinn, a beautiful and correct stallion, did not come of as the flashiest of stallions, though he has a claim to records that not even *Bask or Khemosabi can touch. Born in Sweden on February 13, 1975, he lived there for only three years. He won the 1978 Swedesh National Champion stallion there before being exported to the United States on August 31, 1978. He went into the home of the LaCroixes, owners of the aging *Bask, with hopes that the young stallion would carry on their breeding program. With his promising bloodlines (including Witraz [sire of *Bask], Nureddin, Lalage, and Gerwazy), and the high hopes of the LaCroixes, *Aladdinn proved that he could continue their prestigue in the Arabian business. He made a great start by winning the 1979 National Champion Stallion title. As of right now, *Aladdinn follows only Bey Shah as the leading living sire of champions. Khemosabi was before both of them until he recently passed away. "Through 1997 *Aladdinn had sired 1,172 registered purebred Arabian foals. Of his offspring, 63 are national winners and 267 are show champions"(57). Apparently, he sires better sons than daughters. *Aladdinn's get and grandget possess his large eyes, beautiful necks and shoulders, sound legs, good backs, and strong hindquarters. And many are the same bay in color as him. As for their personalities, they often inherit his willing attitude and quiet personality that assist in their ability to win under stressful show situations. To name just a few of his more notable offspring, they are: 4 U.S. National Champion Halter Stallion sons (AAF Kaset, Strike [sire of the most Class A or better show winners with more than 100 to his credit], Almaden, and Exceladdinn), U.S. Reserve National Champion Stallion (Alada Baskin, receiving this honor twice), U.S. National Formal Driving Championship (Houston- the only horse to ever win this four times). Aladdinn Echo was 6 times a U.S. National Top Ten winner in halter. His most famous daughter would have to be SS Follow Me, winner of the 1986 U.S. National Champion Futurity Filly and the 1990 U.S. National Champion Mare. Other daughters include Ombra Rose (1986 Candian Nat'l Champion Futurity Filly), Gwyndyna (1990 Canadian Nat'l Reserve Champion Futurity Filly), Ladie Love, and Scoundrel. When *Aladdinn went to live with Rick Taylor (had made a name for himself by purchasing both *Muscat and *Nariadni) and his family, it seemed he had finally found a comfortable, loving home where he would remain. He has sky-rocketed the Taylor breeding program. Apparently, he " 'loves the racetrack, loves to gallip there. It's like riding a powerful train engine. I believe horses are happiest when they are treated like horses, not hot-house flowers. It has been thrilling riding a legend like *Aladdinn, for me and for my whole family. Just being with him is special.' "(63). *Aladdinn lives in *Muscat's old stall, and seems to be very happy there. " 'And as our relationship grows, so will the stories we have to tell. We love him more and more as time goes on.' "(63). |
