| FOR MY MOM ON MOTHER'S DAY
Written By Karen Payne I had bought my tickets, and made my reservations for my trip home for my Mom's Birthday, an annual event, and three days later, I had my worst stroke. After a miserable time in the ER, way too long to explain, I was admitted to the hospital, and began treatment for the after-effects of the stroke. I was hospitalized about a week, and sent home with speech therapy, and occupational therapy. Needless to say, my trip to visit Mom over her Birthday was canceled, but my daughter and her husband agreed to take me by car to Iowa, to visit my Mom later that summer. Our plans were to leave the west coast on July 13th, and return home on July 25th. These plans were shattered when my Mom died on July 12th !!!!! My heart was broken, why couldn't she have waited till I got there???? I had so much say to her---so much to share--- so much more love I wanted to give. I say it now. Oh Mom, My Mommy, How I miss you so And my love for you keeps growing everyday I had so much to tell you, that you'd want to know The experiences I've had along the way. From a child you taught me to be Oh, so brave And to cry when my heart was full of tears And always to believe in what I knew was true And follow God's guidance through the years. I learned all my compassion from just watching you You never denied your counsel or a meal You fed the hungry, clothed the wretched, always kind, Showing God's Love was a part that made you real. I've tried to be just like you, but I always fail, I just can't reach the heights that you achieved. But with the Lord to guide me, yes I will prevail Till I see you at Heaven's Gate, I do believe. You are my Guardian Angel as the years roll by, And you have seen me through some trials and fears, I love you Mom, with all my heart, and soul, and I Will love you till eternity appears. With my undying love Karen May 4-2004 |
