Captain of the Going Merry
Luffy (being the main character) is, of course, the leader of the Going Merrys little group.  However, hes a far cry from most of the captains we see in the series; he doesnt really order the others around, or talk down to them in any way.  He just treats them as friends.  It could, of course, be argued that this is because pretty much his whole crew is older than him.  However, I think more likely hes just a nice guy.

He and Zoro, in particular, get along very well.  Although Zoro sometimes gets irritated by Luffys lack of foresight (i.e., not being able to navigate, forgetting to bring along food), they mostly get on very well.  They have the same laid-back attitude when at rest.  They both like a good fight; and they pursue their dreams with the same intensity.

I wouldnt call them best friends (there seems to be something of a gap between their relative maturities), but I do think that, of all the crew, Luffy is definitely the closest to Zoro.

Love?  Well, they are a very popular slash pairing.  However, I think that Luffy is too focused on becoming King of Pirates to have any interest in romance.  He just sees Zoro as a buddy.

As for ZoroNope.  He has his own goals to pursue.  And, in some ways, hes still mourning for Kuina.  Besides, I think Shiru-chan said it best when she wrote Itd be like doing your kid brother.  Luffy and lemons do not mix, unless hes trying to ward off scurvy.

However, theyve saved ach other on many occasions, and they are close.  This pairing is possible, but not very plausible.
Luffy lives in a much simpler world than the rest of us.
