Sunset to Remember Author: sabra Rated: R Well, here's chapter 4! I don't have a lot to say this time... except... please don't hate me. Sabs Chapter 4 ~*Chapter Four*~ ~*Usagi and Motoki’s house*~ ~*Usagi’s Point of View*~ I must have been really tired.. Because when I woke up, I wasn’t on the couch. Turning over on my bed, I looked through blurred vision and attempted to read the numbers on my alarm clock. “SEVEN FOURTY-FIVE P.M!? I slept the entire DAY away!” I got up, and rushed around my room, trying to find clean clothes and head to the café.” I ripped the brush through my hair and pulled on a pair of kakhis and a black tube top. Instead of taking the time to put my hair up in it’s usual style, I just threw it into a pony tale. I virtually flew down the stairs just barely avoiding crashing into two of our servants. “Watch where you’re going, Usagi!” “Ladies do not run around like chickens with their heads cut off!” They shouted at me. “I’ll be fine!” I retorted as I ran out the front door, crashing into a hard wall. Or so I thought. ‘If this is a wall….’ I thought, ‘It certainly is a very nicely dressed wall…’ I looked down and saw a pair of black combat boots, melding into a pair of dark colored kakhi cargo pants. The finely sculpted chest sported a simple black t-shirt. When I finally raised my eyes to the face, I saw a pair of ocean blue eyes staring back at me. ‘Mamoru!’ My mind screamed with rage, ‘You were just checking out MAMORU!’ I followed up my thoughts. “Mamoru! What are you doing here?” “Just checking out the roses.” He replied, with a slightly mischievous grin on his soft and sensual-my mind interrupted me: ‘SOFT AND SENSUAL! WHAT are you TALKING about!?’ Ehem, let me rephrase myself. " He replied, with a slightly mischievous grin on his lips. (Oh how soft and sensual they are **grin**) " I watched his eyes and they didn’t seem to look like they were staring at the roses-which happened to be on the far left side of the house. I followed his line of sight down, and ended up staring straight at my chest. My eyes widened when they fell on the necklace that Motoki had given to me for my birthday, the year that our mother died. On a silver chain, hung an almost flawless ruby sculpted into a budding rose. In the center of the rose, a diamond shaped like a crescent snuggled in between the pedals. I lightly fingered the necklace, blushing as I realized that it certainly must have cost an arm and a leg. Motoki must have gone to great lengths to get this for me. Wait a sec….Motoki! I have to get to the arcade! “Sorry Mamoru, I have to get to the arcade, I MUST talk to Motoki!” I replied quickly, as I ran down the pathway behind him and flung open the moonstone gates to our property. Without even thinking of closing them-which can only be done by a Tsukino with Royal blood, or someone with the special key-I ran down the street towards the café. ~*Mamoru’s Point of View*~ Watching Usagi fly down the street, I noticed that she hadn’t shut the gates. I stood up and quickly went over to the gate. Stepping in front of it, I said a word in the ancient tongue of my people. The crescent keyhole on the gate, slowly rotated to a rose keyhole. I reached down my shirt and grabbed hold of a thick chain. Lifting it out, I eyed the adornment hanging on it. A budding sapphire rose with a chain of clouds wrapped around the edge, sat on the hilt of a dagger, made of pure moonstone. Lifting the chain over my head, I placed the rose into the keyhole, and twisted the dagger like a knob. Stepping back, I watched as the heavy gates(Too heavy for any mortal to move) slowly slid back in to place. After pulling out the dagger, I said the same word changing the rose back to the original crescent, and walked away. ‘Usagi is a strange one, that she is. Strange… but beautiful.’ Opening the gates to my mansion(which just so happened to be right next door-even if next door seems like it’s a block away) I walked inside, and pulled out the sundae. Why, I do not know. There must be something wrong with that damned ice cream. Coffee and pineapple, what was he thinking? ~*Author’s Point of View*~ ~*Motoki’s Café*~ The group of nine sat in the corner of the café at a private booth. Jade was watching Rei out of the corner of his eye, while Rei was warily eyeing Jade. As Ami typed a quick e-mail on her mini-computer, Zach reached his arm over behind her back and began rubbing it gently. Ami’s eyes went wide with shock for a moment, then she relaxed at his soothing touch. Makoto and Neil were discussing something totally off the subject, in the corner of the booth. While Minako and Kyle were shamelessly flirting. Motoki only continued to roll his eyes skyward, for twenty minutes ago, then conversation split up and went in different directions… and he was really beginning to feel like a third wheel, so to speak. ~*Motoki’s Point of View*~ I watched as Jade tried the old and simple way of flirting: The yawn. He stretched his arms out as he yawned(very fake in my opinion) and his left arm fell over Rei’s shoulders. Before he could even get comfortable, Rei-chan beat his arm into the seat with a smack from the back of her hand. No way would I ever want to get on her bad side. Looking defeated, Jade suddenly spoke up, getting the attention of the group. “Okay, so how are we going to put this into action? We know what we’re gonna do… but now HOW we’re gonna do it. What’s our game plan?” Feeling suddenly very relieved, I opened my mouth to speak, and a knock sounded. “I might as well get the door first.” I got up and went around to the back door. Looking through the peephole ‘He he’ my eyes went wide at what I saw. I rushed back to the booth. “Everybody HIDE! It’s Usagi-chan!” I whispered fiercely. Calming my outward appearance, and shaking inward; I opened the door for Usagi. “Hey Motoki,” She yawned, “What are you doing here still? Since it’s Saturday… aren’t you supposed to come home for dinner?” “Yeah Usa… about that,” I began, feeling nervous already, “I have some extra cleaning to do, so I decided to stay after. What are you doing here?” “Well… Ummm, That’s… odd… I don’t even remember. I was at the house and for some reason, got this nudge that I had to see you. Eh, no worries… I’m not exactly sure why, now. I’ll head home and wait-wait a sec. Why don’t I help you clean?” She said. ‘Oh no! This is a problem. Uhhhhh, what am I gonna do? Shit!’ “Nah, I wouldn’t want to put you through the trouble. Why don’t you head home and wait for me? We can have dinner when I get home… I’ll even cook. How does that work?” I questioned hopefully. “No, why don’t I just wait here then you can drive me home?” She grinned. I could tell she was thinking something… but I wasn’t quite sure what it was….. My eyes narrowed into slits. “What are you thinking, Usa?” “Nothing Motoki-chan, nothing at all….. Wait a sec… what am I doing here?” She looked around, totally confused. “Umm… Motoki? I think I’m gonna head home. I’ll wait for you there.” She turned and walked out of the arcade, heading in the direction of home. ‘What is going on with Usagi.’ I thought worriedly. When I walked back into the room, I heard a voice. “Motoki! Can we come out of these damned hiding spaces!? My back is killing me!” I recognized the voice as Jade’s. “Yeah, you can come out now.” Everyone came out and sat back down in the booth, we began discussing the plan once again. ~*Usagi and Motoki’s House*~ ~*Mamoru’s Point of View*~ I sat there on the couch, stroking the blonde’s head. Poor Usagi, what was she doing to herself? Just thinking about it, made me want to cry. “Usako…. Stop doing this to yourself.” I whispered as a few stray tears made their way down my cheek and fell onto her eyelids. Closing my eyes I mentally went over what had just occurred. ~*Flashback*~ I was relaxing in my kitchen, drinking a cup of coffee, not black like everyone thinks I like it. With two creams and a sugar; with a touch of hot chocolate sauce. Bringing the steaming mug to my lips, I dropped it when I heard a heart- shattering scream. Not even bothering to think about the spilled coffee and broken mug, I rushed outside and jumped the brick wall that surrounded my house. To my dismay, the scream came from the mouth of an angel. Usagi. At the moment, she looked like she had just been through hell. In her hand, there was a broken, half empty bottle of vodka. Her purse lay open next to her and the needle of a syringe stuck out of the contents. ‘Usa…. What is going on?’ I thought painfully. I softly brushed my fingertips across her lips and a huge rush of something hit my mind. The pictures rushed through my mind so fast, but somehow… they were all so clear to me. Usagi was in a rage, her eyes were bloodshot, and she looked terrible. She had the bottle of Vodka in her hand and had just drank a great amount. She slammed the bottle into the brick wall and the broken pieces cut into her hand, sending streams of blood trickling down her arm. Suddenly, she stopped and slowly slid to the ground. Hands shaking, she pulled out the syringe from her purse and slowly injected it into her left forearm. Thirty seconds later, she screamed as the drug hit her. I saw vivid meaningless images as they passed through her mind, the moment that she screamed. She saw a man in dark armor dead; Then came a woman in a white bloodstained gown with a sword through her breast. A witch with red hair and purple eyes; a dead man with a black crescent on his forehead; There was a woman with long flowing pink hair, and red eyes, grinning wickedly; And a man with blue-white hair and a symbol on his forehead, holding two crystals close together; lastly, was a woman in a metallic outfit standing in what looked like a garden of crystals. The pictures stopped. Usagi's eyes shot open and she stared blankly into my eyes for a moment, then she passed out again. I picked her up quickly and ran to take her into her house. The servants came quickly and got her changed into a nightgown and robe. They brought her back down to the couch where I was waiting anxiously, and I watched her as she slept. ~*End of Flashback*~ ~*Author's Point of View*~ "Usako.... Why? Why are you doing this to yourself?" Mamoru whispered brokenly. He held her close as his tears slowly dampened her golden hair. "Usa.." Was the last word he uttered before breaking down into quiet sobs. Well, I hope that you guys liked this chapter, and that you'll continue reading my story. I always work faster with feedback.
