In a slight depression, where vegetation does not readily grow, stands Basin Rock. It is close enough to the Grotto that the tribe can get there easily, and yet far enough removed that the wolf pack does not feel that their territory is being encroached upon. The pack makes it dens around Basic Rock, where the earth is easy to dig in and water is close at hand.
Basin Rock is the physical remnants of the fallen sky-stone. Its resting place was mostly below ground at first, embedded in the earth by the violence of its arrival. The force of its landing changed the course of the Deepfast River and for many years the water ran over portions of the rock, shaping it with sand and water. Over time, the water removed the sandy soil until the stone was once again unearthed. The river now runs in completely new banks, although still close by, leaving the sky-stone almost completely exposed, its softer elements washed away.
Basin Rock is now a plateau that acts as the tribes meeting place for howls and councils. The center has long since been worn into a bowl shape, with jagged peaks rising from the sides. It is easy for the tribe to access but could be a defensible position if need be, and due to the lack of plants and trees in its immediate vicinity, it is a favorite basking spot during the cold months for elf and wolf alike, receiving full sunlight all day long.
