Born during Silver Millenium as Prince Endymion of Earth he fell in love with Princess Serenity of the moon. When Queen Beryl attacked the Moon Kingdom Endymion led an army against her. She found Princess Serenity, and was about to kill her when Endymion showed up to protect his beloved. Queen Beryl had a major crush on Endymion, and offered to let him be her king and help her take over the universe. He asked why he would want to join forces with a snake full of ugliness and hatred (that made her MAD). So she kidnapped him. He yelled at Princess Serenity to save herself, but she jumped after him. Then Queen Serenity used the Imperium Silver Crystal to send them to Earth.
When he was reborn I don't know what his name was. His parents were killed in a car crash when he was about six years old. He lived in a hospital, then in an orphanage, and was named Chiba Mamoru, or Darien Shields (Mamoru means "protect", shields protect, he's all about protecting Serenity, do we see a theme here?) Not long after this when he was in the hospital he met a little girl named Serena (guess who she was on the Moon Kingdom). She gives him a red rose, and they become friends.
As they grow older their friendship sort of fades, and they just annoy each other a lot. When Serena finds out she is Sailor Moon Darien starts having blackouts. He doesn't know what's going on, and his only clue is a recurring dream in which a princess whose face he cannot see calls him Tuxedo Mask, and begs him to help her. He doesn't know that during the blackouts he becomes Tuxedo Mask, and helps the Sailor Soldiers. Then when he holds a rainbow crystal (the orange one) he remembers transforming. Then he has control of it, and he doesn't blackout any more.
Even when he loses his memories again (as happens more that once) some part of him always know to protect Sailor Moon, no matter what. At one point he is possessed by the negative forces, and even when he firmly believes that he and Sailor Moon are mortal enemies he cannot bring himself to harm her. Then he loses all his memories of being Tuxedo Kamen and knowing the Senshi. Then the part of his soul programmmed to protect Sailor Moon leaves his body and manifests itself as the Moonlight Knight. Then he looks like an Arab Sheik with a veil over half his face.Finally, he becomes Neo King Endymion, he marries Neo Queen Serenity, they have a daughter, and he and his queen finally live in peace. |
