On the Silver Millenium Moon Kingdom Queen Serenity had two advisors, the moon cats Luna and Artemis. Both cats could talk, and had a gold crescent moon on their forehead. When Queen Serenity sent the souls of the Moon Princess and her court to the future she sent her cats with them. She sealed them in time chambers to awaken when the princesses were reborn. Since there was no way of telling where on Earth they would be born The cats had to search the planet to find and identify the Princesses of each planet.
First Artemis was searching in England, and found a girl named Aino Minako (Mina). He discovered that she was a Sailor Scout. Thus began Code Name: Sailor V. A while after this Luna was searching in Japan (she didn't know where Artemis was, or whether he'd had any luck), and she found a girl named Tsukino Usagi (Serena). She was Sailor Moon, and Princess Serenity. Luna must have had better luck than Artemis, because she also found Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Jupiter. Funny thing is, she has no idea whats going on with Artemis, but he knows exactly whats happening with her. She makes periodic check-ins to "Central Control" who basically listens to her reports, and tells her what to do. Little does she know that "Central Control" is Artemis disguising his voice. When she found out she was MAD. He looked quite embarrased. Eventually Mina moves to Japan, and they are all reunited. From then on it is the cats's job to guard and teach the Sailors.
In the future, when the Earth is ruled by Neo Queen Serenity and Neo King Endymion Luna and Artemis are still around. (They're never once mentioned in R Series). They have a little silver-gray kitten named Diana. Diana is to be Chibi Serenity's guardian, just as Luna is Neo Queen Serenity's guardian. Diana doesn't show up until Super S. She gets permission to travel back in time to train with Chibi Moon. The episode where she appears is hilarious. Nobody knows who she is, and she's to excited to explain who she is, and Luna and Artemis are all embarrassed. I won't say any more, in case you haven't seen it yet. Episode #133. Watch it. |
