Unknown Emotions " Peace. I never thought it was possible." Heero mumbled. Her short brown hair blew in the cool wind that picked up the snow as he watched out into the colonies. It had been three years after the real operation meteor had been disposed of. The year was A.C 199. " And it was achieved and is kept by her." His mind ran with memories of Relena Peacecraft. She had grown up from the person he had met her to be. All these feelings he couldn't understand what they were. He had lost all emotions when he became a pilot and couldn't understand what was happening to him. " What's wrong with me?" --------------------------------------------------------- " I never expected this to be so much work." Relena sighed as she carried her papers to the building in front of her. The sun shone in the sky above her. " Now I know there's a step here somewhere..." She reached out to find it but as she did the doors flung open and someone rushed out. He knocked her over and the nineteen year-old feel flat on her butt. " Oh I'm so sorry miss." The man's voice said. " No it's okay I couldn't see where I was even going or who was coming near me." She said abruptly. " No really let me make it up to you." He said quickly. She looked at him and knew he wouldn't give up. " Alright." She said slowly. " Let me take you to dinner. Meet me at eight." He wrote down the address and ran down the street. " Bye...Relena." He turned the corner. " How strange." Relena whispered as she stuck the note in her pocket and picked up the papers. " He could have at least offered to help me." She angrily said. After she had picked up all the papers she hurried into the building. " Miss. Relena?" Many of the employees looked at her face. " Is something wrong?" " No it's alright." She smiled and walked up the elevator. Once the door closed her face fell apart. She couldn't keep it up for much longer. Her heart longed to see Heero again. She turned her head and focused out the window. " Heero..." She could feel small tears escaping from her eyes. She wiped her eyes and her eyebrows narrowed. " Why am I crying?" The elevator stopped as she entered her office. She dropped her papers at her desk and laid her head down. " It makes no sense." Tears streamed out of her eyes. Her eyes closed as she fell into a deep sleep. " Oh Heero..." Her arm rested on a picture of Heero, her and the other pilots. " When will I see you again." Her voice faded into the silence of the room. -------------------------------------------- " Oh shoot it's almost eight." Relena freaked as she woke up. She looked out the window. " It's snowing again." She sighed. The snow began to remind her of Heero. " Give it up Relena he's gone just go on with your life." She sighed again. She began to hurry home. She got dressed into something formal and pulled her coat over it. She began to walk outside and followed the directions he gave her. " Nah he's always been like that." Duo laughed as Hilde asked him about Heero. " Well its not you knew him long." Hilde smirked as they sat in the restaurant. " So tell me how are you affording this?" She asked as she finished up her dessert. " Easy it's new and I'm just full of money to spare." He laughed. She smiled. " No really?" She asked him again. " Everyone gets on free meal." He whispered and laughed again. " I should've known." She laughed with him. She began to eye the place and someone at the front door caught her eye. " Hey Duo isn't that Relena?" His head turned. " Yeah it is." He smiled. " Maybe we should say hello?" He asked her. " No." She answered. " Why not she's probably with Heero..." " That's the problem she's here with someone but it's not Heero." Hilde whispered. The two of them sat down and Relena took off her jacket. " Are you sure you can pay for this?" She asked, a little worried about the favor he was doing her. " It's no problem at all." He smiled. " Especially since it's a free meal." They began to talk but didn't notice Duo and Hilde. Hilde seemed to ignore them but Duo was getting out raged. " I can't believe her!" Duo mumbled. " Doesn't she like Heero anymore? It's gonna break his heart. That is if he ever figures out what love is." Duo meddled. " Duo it's none of our business." Hilde motioned. " Heero's my best friend and I won't let miss queen of the world hurt him." Duo implied. He stood up and began to walk toward Relena and the man. Hilde hung her head. " He's gonna make things absolutely worse." She giggled and sipped her wine. " It should actually be interesting." She turned her head back to the window. " Nothing as beautiful as snow..." " Hey." Duo rudely interrupted Relena's conversation. " Who are you?" The man asked. " I should be asking you the same thing." Duo snorted. " Oh Duo." Relena said. " Are you here with Hilde or maybe..." She couldn't finish her sentence. " I'm here with Hilde." He said. " Now who's this?" He pointed at the guy. " My name is Takai." He replied. " He bumped into me today at work and wanted to apologize. What did you think he was here with me for?" She asked trying not to hurt Takai's feelings. " Well actually..." Hilde grabbed him by the ear. " Hi Relena. Bye Relena." She pulled Duo out the door. " Can't you go five seconds without destroying something?" Hilde joked. " Just what do you mean by that?" Duo nervously asked. Relena watched as they threw snowballs at each other from the huge window in the front. She could feel the tears burn in her eyes. Fond memories of Heero flooded into her mind. " I...I'm sorry Takai. But I've got to go..." She didn't have time to make an excuse because she could feel a tear escaping from her eye. " Good -bye." She politely bowed and took her coat before she left. " Oh it's not a problem Miss. Relena. I'll have you yet and with you by my side I'll be able to control the world nation." Takai thought. His plan was going to work if it killed him. ------------------------------------- " Why can't I forget him." Relena sobbed as her head lay on her bed in her house. " Because you loved him." A voice in her head repeated to her. " And I still do." She dried her eyes and looked out into the star full night. " There will be a day when I'll see you again and I can finally tell you how I feel." She smiled and went to bed with a smile on her face. " Almost done." A voice snickered as Relena slept. " My plan's almost done." He took her and escaped into the night sky. In the morning Duo and Hilde made their way to see Heero, Quatre, Trowa and Catharine. " It's like a reunion." Hilde giggled. " Except Relena's not here." She said as she looked around. " We couldn't get a hold of her." Quatre said as they watched TV. Duo began to flip through channels and left it at the news as they all got their coffee. Heero had just taken a sip of his when the informer said something that shocked them all. " In recent news Miss. Relena Dorlein has just been engaged to Mr. Takai Ganmou." Heero spit his coffee out all over Duo as everyone stared at the TV that had follow up reports. Heero looked stunned. " Hey that's that guy from last night!" Hilde exclaimed. " She lied to me!" Duo yelled in rage. " What are you talking about?" Trowa asked as Heero still stood in horror. " Last night we went out for dinner and saw Relena with that guy." Hilde explained. " So Duo went over to ask what they were doing and almost caused a scene." Hilde replied. " But I didn't." Duo explained and went on. " She said he was repaying her for bumping into her at work and messing up all her files." He continued. " Didn't even look like she liked him cause she left him before they even ordered food and she seemed completely miserable. ------------------------------------------ " Why is this always happening to me?" Relena sighed as she lay in her new room. Heavily guarded by force troops. A face appeared on the screen in front of her. " Now Relena don't do anything stupid my dear. After all you have to be alive for the wedding." He smirked. " Takai. What do you want with me?" She yelled at the screen. " I want your power you rule this world and don't even know it." He replied. Relena's eyes widened. " As soon as we are wed the people will look upon me as their ultimate leader! Don't bother telling anyone or we'll just kill all that's close to you." He laughed. Relena looked in horror as his face disappeared. " Heero help me..." Tears fell from her face. Her blue eyes shone with emptiness in the moonlight. ----------------------------------------------- Everyone had parted for the day still shocked at Relena's engagement. Heero sat alone in his room in the L1 colony. " Why is it that my heart aches could it be that I lo..." He struggled to finish his sentence. He couldn't admit even to himself that he loved her. He cowered as he fell into a restless sleep. " Heero!" Relena's voice beckoned him. " Heero help me!" Her voice cried. " Where are you!" He called out into the blackness. " Relena! Relena!" Her hand reached out. " Help me Heero!" He reached out for her hand. But she disappeared into the darkness. " Relena!" Heero violently jerked his head up. " What the hell was that?" He whispered. " Do I really have feelings for her or is it that I have to protect her...but then..." His mind faded back to last time he saw Relena. " Oh Heero!" She bolted up and he began to fall to the ground. Tears falling freely from her blue eyes. He fell into Relena's arms. Her tears fell onto her face. He never knew she cared about him so much. " Oh Heero, I love you..." She closed her eyes and held him closer. " Hn." Heero's eyes were still closed but his head moved and his heart became full of emotions. " That's in the past." Heero growled in anger. He slipped his jean jacket on and his normal black pants. " I'm only going to see her because of the engagement." He had received a call from someone saying that the man wasn't all he seemed to be. That he only wanted her because of her political level. " Ready to go yet Heero?" The door opened and Trowa walked in. He looked at him with a cold glare. He handed told anyone about the message because he wasn't sure. " Yes." He quickly said as he boarded the shuttle from L1 to Earth. " He looks more unhappy than usual." Duo whispered to Hilde as Heero sat down in the front. He closed his eyes and began to concentrate on his new mission. " Don't be mean." Catharine whispered behind them. Trowa boarded on and sat at the back with Catharine. " I guess." Duo mumbled and turned his attention to outside. As the shuttle blasted off and had gone three hours Heero finally woke up. " So your awake." Trowa said as Heero focused on them in the back. " We've only got about an hour left." " I wonder what he's like?" Hilde asked. Trying to think of a suitable person for Relena that wasn't Heero. " Who?" Duo asked like a child, forgetting the most important things. " Her fiancée you dork." Catharine giggled. Duo blushed as Trowa sighed in embarrassment. " Probably a real serious worker." Duo said. " And probably wants to kill her." Heero mumbled quietly. Trowa's head flung up and looked at him. " Did he just say..." He tried to ask the others who were deep in conversation about the man, Takai Ganmou. " What?" Hilde asked after five minutes. " Nothing." He turned his head. Heero sighed and waited for the shuttle to land. A little while later the shuttle arrived on Earth. As Heero walked out he actually expected to see Relena, waiting for him, like she had before. Instead it was almost empty. It was dark as the sky and the ground was full of snow. Sally Po and Wu Fei waited patiently for them to empty the shuttle. Heero made his way out and the others followed soon after. " Well it's good to see you again." Sally said. She and Wu Fei had worked as preventors. " And to you too." Hilde and Catharine said. " What's with Heero?" Wu Fei asked as Trowa and Duo unloaded their bags. He was referring to Heero's icy stare. " Didn't you hear?" Duo asked. " About what?" Wu Fei asked feeling left out. " We've been at the edge of space for three months." " Relena's engaged." Duo babbled out. Sally's head turned in amazement. " To who?" She asked as the girls going them. " Some guy named Takai Ganmou." Trowa calmly said. " Know anyone of that name?" She sadly shook her head. " Lets go." Heero impatiently growled. " But let us finishing talking." Hilde motioned. " Just shut-up all of you." He growled again. " Someone's got an attitude problem." Hilde said in shock of Heero's anger. The climbed into the limousine as he drove off. Heero stared out the window. " We can get ready for the engagement party here." Hilde explained that her father had lent them the place. " So at least we know why we were invited now." Sally laughed. Wu Fei sighed and took the bags into the house. ------------------------------------- " Is everyone ready?" Sally asked, as they were about to leave. The girls were dressed in elegant gowns and the boys in tuxedos. The drove up to Takai's mansion. They all piled out of the car and made their way up to the front door. " Oh hello." A girl greeted them at the door. " Are you friends of Relena?" She asked. They nodded and she eyed Heero as he made his way in but being stubborn he didn't notice her. After a while and once Heero was done snooping an old man introduced Takai and Relena. It must have been he's father or grandfather. As Relena made her way down the endless stairs in her blue gown. Her eyes were empty and he looked as if she had been crying to Heero's eyes but to everyone else she was just an elegant beauty. Takai tried to take her hand but she moved back and made her own pace down. No one seemed to notice that either. Her eyes scaled the room and looked at the bottom. " Heero..." Her voice squealed. The light was brought back into her eyes and she smiled. Takai looked at her as she nearly ran down the stairs. She stopped at the bottom and her eyes met his. Her blond hair was pulled back into the same bun she had when she was queen. " Relena..." His voice cut into her heart. The voice her heart melted and her smile grew. " Heero..." She tried to stop from crying but Heero wiped her tear away. Takai grabbed her arm. " Come on. Let's dance." He pulled her to the dance floor. Relena sighed as Takai dragged her off and dance with her. As soon as the song ended she rushed to dance with Heero. " Heero Yuy...just who... no what are you?" Takai mumbled. He quickly ran out of the room and joined some of his men outside out of site. " She looks so happy." Noin smiled at Millardio. They watched as Heero and Relena endlessly waltzed. " Hn." He looked around for Takai. He disapproved of this wedding. Takai had asked one of them to retrieve information on Heero Yuy. " Pilot of 01 and Zero?" Takai read his database. " Guarded Princess/ Queen Relena and disappeared A.C 196. Age 19 and all past records have something to do with Relena since he was 16." Takai snarled. " I need him out of the picture if you get my drift." He smirked as his men loaded up their guns. " It'll be a snap boss. He ain't expecting that!" One of them laughed. Takai made his way back into the building and went to get some wine as Relena and Heero danced. " All I should do is lead her away..." Takai whispered to himself. " Relena come here I need to talk to you." He motioned to her. Relena sighed and with a frown ran slowly over to him. As soon as she had reached him a shot rang out. " HEERO!" Relena cried out as she saw him dart out of the smoke. He pulled out a riffle and began to shoot. There was a sound of agony as four bodies of black fell. Relena's mind became over rushed with anger. She grabbed Takai's hand and ran into the hall. She raised her hand and as quickly as the shot her hand slapped across his face. " What was that for?" He snarled. " For everything!" She said in-between tears. But she wouldn't allow herself to cry. She was stronger than that Heero had always told her that. " I'm not sure exactly what this plan of yours is but don't get him involved." She angrily yelled. He looked at her surprised. " I should have known better that you wouldn't go along with this." He mumbled. " To bad he's got a death wish." He smirked and Relena stood there stunned. " Takai...Ganmou..." She repeated. " Death Wish!" She realized what his name meant. " I've always been an assassin. And it'll be great to be your husband...since you have no choice." He pulled a gun at her head. Her eyes flooded with tears. Not tears of horror or fear but memories. " You're in over your head...say good-bye Relena..." " Do it." She said standing still. " It'll be better than marring you and ruining the peace!" She quickly yelled. His face went pale and began to pull the trigger but a bullet pierced through his hand and the gun flung out of his grasp. A body jumped down in front of Relena. " You know one day someone is actually going to take you on that word and no one's going to save you." Heero mumbled. Relena smiled a bit not sure if he was joking or not. Takai growled at him as he called for his men. Fifteen men showed up armed and ready to kill Heero. All guns pointed at him and the trigger of all fifteen was pulled. Fifteen shots rang out and as Heero prepared himself for death his body were pushed out of the way. Many of the bullets missed but one hit Relena as she fell to the ground, blood pouring out Heero's eyes filled with tears. The feelings, he felt again. Like before he was retrained, when he killed that girl and her dog. " Relena!" He called out from where he lay on the floor. Relena had pushed him out of the way just before the bullet hit him. " Stupid girl..." Takai said in anger. The doors of the hall burst open and the other gundam pilots came running in. " Oh no Relena..." Quatre whimpered. Her face was pale and her eyes were closed as Quatre approached her. He feet spreading the puddles of blood as he walked towards her. Duo and Trowa ran over to Heero and helped him up. " Relena..." Tears dripped out of Heero's eyes. Wu Fei, Zechs and Noin arrested Takai and his men as the gundam pilots took care of Relena. -------------------------------------------------- " Relena..." " I promise I'll come back to you Relena..." " It would hurt Relena too much." " R...Relena?" " Why can't I kill her...WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?" " Relena..." -------------------------------------------------- " Relena?" Heero's head hung over Relena's. The color was back in her face but she hadn't woken up in three days. Three days since Heero had eaten slept or even moved. He hadn't left her side since she was brought in. They were doing all they could to help her and he didn't want to leave her alone again. Her eyes were still closed as she breathed. Her breath was short and painful. He couldn't bear to let her die because of him. So many times he came close to death but Relena had seen him through it always somehow she saved him. " Poor Heero." Duo whispered as he and Hilde walked home through the snow. " Actually I think it's better this way." She quietly said. His ears pricked up as he listened to her. " He can finally tell her he loves her and he knows that she loves him and it's great except for the bullet." She giggled a little. Duo laughed too as the moon shone and the stars glimmered in the sky. " Relena..." Heero's face became pale as he held her hand. " It tore my heart apart when I heard you were getting married and I finally realized it was because I..." His hands dropped and his eyes began to close. His head dropped on the bed and his grip tightened on Relena's hand. " I love you..." He whispered and fell asleep. He didn't see but Relena's face smiled and felt the warmth of Heero's hand slowly bringing her back into reality. End Written by Serena Yuy 2001
