Life is good

Hello:

This is old Silver a talking to you. When I retired at the age 62 those good old boys at the social security office told me to not make no more than around $9000.00 per year or they would have to punish me.They told me they was doing me a big favor sending me back some my money they took from me earlier but if I insisted on going out and making more than $9000.00 per year extra then they would have no choice but to take one dollar of every two I made so I would not be tempted to work. Well I thought to my self one dollar for every two is kinda steep since I would still have to pay income tax on the whole amount and would be getting only half of what I made with social security getting the other half. But a company called and said they was in a big bind and needed me to check some drawings some young whipper snappers had done. They said it would take only a few weeks and I could get back to my fishing. So I said I would cause a few weeks was not very much time and those gentlemen were in a terrible bind. Well those few weeks ended up being a few months and the next thing I knowed I had made about  $18,000 dollars. This was serious business  cause those good old boys had warned me about making over $9000.00. Using high school math I figured I owed those good old boys at the social security office about $4500.00 as punishment for helping that poor old company out that was in such a bind. Well now I figured there was no future in that and if those good old boys  did not want me to work well then I would just go fishing and putter around the house and maybe make some bird houses. One thing I could not figure about all this though. I read where Uncle Sam said the country was in a bind and needed skilled workers so he that was why he was a going to let everyone 65 and over work as much as they wanted to and not be punished cause it would help this great  country of ours and also social security since they would of course expect to be paid about 15% of every dollar made.To be fair you would only have to pay about 7.5% and your employer would have to pay about 7.5% thus 15%. He also said this would not apply to those poor old workers that were 62 to 64. He went on to explain that if a man 62 to 64 works and draws social security they would need to collect a dollar for every two dollars he makes as punishment cause it would cost this great country of ours a lot of money if they did not get at least one half of what that poor old wore out worker made. I believe Uncle Sam has been listening to those bean counters they have in Washington. They seam to think that us 62, 63, and 64 year old boys and girls are going to be happy to go out and earn over $9000.00 so that those social security boys can collect all that extra doe as punishment for being 62 thru 64 and not 65. Now old Silver says I am not going to give them one dollar for every two dollars I make so they have lost the 15% of every dollar me and my employer would have given them had you not been so greety...... So I will go fishing and make bird houses instead. Now if any of you find yourself in the same fix and need a bird house project to do or have a fish story to tell let me know. And if you should run into one of them bean counters or even one of the politicians tell them they need to get out their old high school math book and review how 15% of a $1.00 = 15 cents but 50% of nothing still = nothing.
