Book 1: Harry Potter and the Philosopher/Sorcerer's Stone
Harry Potter was orphaned as a baby and sent to live with his horrible aunt and uncle, who tell him they died in a car crash.
But the truth is far stranger than that. He was ten when the strange letters began to arrive, and on his 11th birthday he discovers that he is a wizard, and will be going to Hogwarts!
And the adventure has only just begun, because Harry soon realises that something strange is happening, and it's up to him to save the school!
Book 1 is a rollercoaster of action, adventures and laughs. The characterization is excellent, as is the humour and the individualism in JK Rowling's writing.

Book 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
A really great sequel. This year someone has opened the legendary chamber of secrets, and something is roaming the school... petrifying anything that stands in its way.
And what with students thinking Harry could be the Heir of Slytherin, he decides its up to him to find out who's really doing all this.
It's not going to be easy though, what with their ghastly new DADA teacher, as well as all the other problems that may arise during the year...
This book is as funny as the previous, and also excellently written and very exciting. The climax is intense, and you just won't be able to put it down!

Book 3: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
There's definitely something not right. Harry is seeing the omens of death, and his new divination lessons aren't helping at all!
There's an escaped murderer on the loose... and he seems to be after Harry. But why is Mr Weasly so worried about him going after the murderer? Why would he ever want to do that?
Dementors are all over the school, and every time Harry sees them the death of his parents is relived, and Oliver Wood's last chance to win the quidditch cup is closing in. As if Harry doesn't have enough on his mind already...
What can I say? It's excellent and scary, and the revelation at the end is amazing...

Book 4: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
What is this thing at Hogwarts that's got everyone so excited? And when he finds out, is it really worth risking his life for?
Either way, there's no way out for Harry. And as the end of the year looms, it becomes clear that someone wants him dead.
This book is definitely darker and scarier than the previous - as well as far longer. It's definitely worth reading, and it will definitely have you eagerly awaiting the next.
