What is a Gryphon?
A Gryphon is a Chimarae, which means that it is a mixture of two animals. In the Gryphon's case it is a mix of lion and eagle.
The name varies considerably - Griffin, gryphen, gryffen, gryffin are all some common variations. The latin word for 'Gryphon' is 'gryps'.
Gryphons hatch from eggs and can both run and fly. Gryphon communitcation and expressions are very subtle and often very different from human expressions.

Gryphons are not fussy about what they eat. They mainly eat meat, their favourite being horse meat. Gryphons are territorial animals who, while rarely harming humans, will quickly kill one who has wronged them.
They are often up to six feet long and their wingspan is huge. The foreparts of their body are mainly eagle-like, whilst the body and back parts are more lion-like. The females are usually larger than the males.
