Elemental Magic Uncovered The first thing I'd like to point out is that Elemental Magic is not the study of the periodic table etc. but a study of the four elements of the Earth: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. These are the basic elements that make up the Earth, the foundations for a huge school of magic. Master this school of magic and there will be a whole new world of possibility opened up for you. Do you want tp learn to fly? What about controlling the weather? All in good time.
Earthern Magic The magic of the earth is perhaps the simplest. It is a huge area of elemental magic which incorperates natural objects; wood, stones and such, to make magic. This area includes Runic Magic, though it is more commonly recocognised as a separate school altogether. Earth magic can be used in many diresctions and ways, there are no limitations other than the user's own ability, and it has no particular desire or root. It is an extraordinarily safe form of magic, particularly reliable.
Air Magic Learn to fly and control the weather. This is among the most powerful areas, to those who can master it, but probably also one of the hardest to learn. It's main use is through the weather, invoking storms and sunshine or whatever the user desires, and also to use the natural signs in the air to forecast coming weather.
Fire Magic This is a particularly peculiar area of elemental magic. For centuries it has been debated whether Fire is indeed an element of the earth or not. But it traditionally is and I am not about to argue with tradition. However, fire is certainly a most unusual element. What is it? It's a reaction between two things, but what is it really if you look beyond science? I cannot put my finger on it. The magic of fire is most commonly associated with destruction, it involves bringing forth sparks and such at the user's will. Only a master of this magic can use it to destroy, however, although an apprentice using this area of magic when he has no real control has often brought destruction upon himself. Therefore this has always been known as one of the most dangerous areas of magic.
Water Magic The magic of water is associated with change, one object to another and such. It is a hard subject to master, but those who succeed have the power of shapeshifting and to distort objects as they so desire. It has often been used against fire magic; an interesting action has been known to occur when the two meet in the air: neither spells will work, and they seem to extinguish each other. Water is not a particularly safe area for the user, and for others around when the user is attempting to polymorph an object, especially when the user is below the status of a master. The main reason is the control that the user has over the spell, the change and the consequence. Having no, or little control of the spell means that the object being transformed may turn into something other than desired. Having no control over the change means that the transformed object will often turn out mutated or wrong. Having no control of the consequence means that the newly transformed object will be out of the control of the user.
