Just read the page on your site. Your view was very well stated. I have to question the source the elder of your church sited in stating JKR's involvement in the occult et.al. in his statements. She has stated categorically that she was never involved in this type of activity. Also I agree that the book is not about things of the devil. To the contrary the book is very much about the fight against those principals which the devil puts forward, and the need for good and good deeds. It is also apparent in the books that at least some of the wizards in JKR's books are Christian as they celebrate Christmas and Easter, and I would say the majority in her book would be of that religious persuasion. If magic is a talent given to some people (as I believe JKR shows in her books) then it would be a sin to not develop that talent to its potential, and equally a sin to use that talent for evil purposes just as it would be for any other talent. Hence the moral of the books, good must remain ever vigilant to evil and fight it in all forms it finds it. Also good comes in many forms and needs to be recognized and accepted without bias, which by the way is a tool of Satan. |
