Essie Weingarten is the president and founder of Essie Cosmetics, Ltd. The company was sold to L'Oreal in 2010.
Essie Weingarten began her career in 1981 when she premiered 12 unconventional nail polish colors in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a big hit and she began selling it to various salons across the country. In 1982, Essie went international in countries such as Japan, England, France, and others. In the early 1990s salons began to become very popular, and her business really took off. The collection grew to the over 200 shades currently available. Essie's nail polish has been seen on stars such as Joan Rivers and even HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Essie has partnered with companies such as J. Crew, Rock and Republic, New York Fashion Week, and Judith Ripka to create unique nail polish.
Essie is around the age of 61 years old.
