| Illinois ~ Bachelor's Grove Cemetery ~ Near Chicago: This small and secluded graveyard is believed to be one of the most haunted places in the Chicago area. Is told that a block away where a large house once stood, which burned down some years ago, the house has been seen reappear and then vanish again. Illinois, Chicago ~Resurrection Cemetery~ Resurrection Mary's spot to haunt, once known as Mary Bregavy, A Polish girl that was killed in a car accident in 1939, while going home from a dance at the O'Henry Ballroom, now the Willowbrook Ballroom. Mary usually makes appearances all along the cemetery roads and at the Willowbrookk Ballroom. Mary has been known to dance with men at the ballroom and ask them for a ride home, seen hitchhiking on the nearby roads, even picked up by a cab driver only to disappear from their cars as they pass the cemetery. So be sure to always be aware that the girl asking for a ride just might disappear as you pass by the Cemetary. Illinois, Decatur ~ Greenwood Cemetery ~ Long believed to be one of the most haunted spots in downstate Illinois (if not the Midwest), Greenwood Cemetery is filled with legends and stories of ghosts and haunted places. Among them are the ghost of a young girl who has been seen walking among the grave in a bridal gown, a weeping woman in white, ghost lights that are said to be the spirits of flood victims and even Confederate soldiers who were buried here in unmarked graves after being taken from a prison train. ~ Robinson Woods Burial Grounds ~ The final resting place of Chief Chee-Chee-Pin-Quay (a.k.a. Alexander Robinson), Chief of the Potowatomi, Ottawa, and Chippewa Indian Nations, and his family. There are many unexplainable activities that have been reported since the 1950s. From native american- tom-tom drum sounds, moving lights and the scent of flowers in one location usually Lilacs. The floral scent seems to be there at all times of the year even in the winter when this flower is out of season. |
