Yo! Coimbatoreans... if you're looking for the place to hangout after dark, well, where else but a nice cozy, dim-lit, inexpensive bar!!!
Now, now, i wonder where i can find one... :-)
Below are a few of our favourite hangouts...
House Of Lords:
One of our favourite hangouts on a Saturday nite. The only "classy" bar around here in Coimbi, this place has it all... from Indian to IMFL to Pure Foreign Liquors. The cocktails are a must too. Try the Chilli Vodka, Old Fashion, Planter's Punch, Whisky Sour and Horse Neck, which are their specialities. And one great thing about this place is that the bar-tender can make any popular cocktail of your choice which is not in the menu. I've asked him to make stuffs like Bloody Mary, Irish Coffee, Tom Collins and a Dry Martini, and it was pretty amazing. But we make it only a once a week routine, as the place is also pretty expensive.
CAG Pride:
If privacy is what you want, you have it. But the place is pretty dull. And the drinks served are pretty normal... the class is below that of Residency.
KETTI:
Nilgiris' own little "permit room". It has something sort of that "pub" atmosphere, but quite costly... class is below that of Residency, but the prices are the same. Thats why we usually dont go here. Service is not so good too.
Hotel Raamu's:
Belongs to the "Drink n Eat cheaply" category. Our favourite hangout... you can have delicious biryanis and dosas, and at the same time order your favourite drink to go with the food... all at the same rate as any normal drink and food!!! Going there is a totally new (and very addictive) experience!
Other Railway Station Area Bars:
There are many other bars nearby. Tendril Gardens is one of our favourites, and the attached bar at The Park Inn is one of the regular haunting place for me n the Rwandese. Sometimes, me n my frens book a room at one of the hotels there (cheap, just around 350 a nite, split among 3-4 people) and buy our own booze and then... PARTY!
Gandhipuram Bus Stand Area:
I forgot the name, but next to the Supa Bus Depot, there is this amazingly cheap bar (Like Raamu's). Went there when i was in 1st year, but the memories still remain strong inside. Then there is the rooftop restaurant cum bar, opposite where Hotel Gayathri used to be there. There are many more around, all u gotta do is look...
Others:
Samudra Bar at Surya International, and Hopes College Area Bars like VKS and Sundaram are also lively places to hangout after dark...
