What IS a BJD? A BJD is a hobby which is a mix between porcelin dolls, fashion dolls, action figures and model kits. They are made of resin, and can be fully customiazable to the owners wishes. Eyes and hair (wigs) can be changed to change the look of a doll. Face-up's can be done over and over again. The dolls can be sanded, sculpted or modifications added to them.
What does SD mean? SD stands for Super Dollfie. this is the name of doll line created by Volks. Though the term SD is used as a term to describe the size of a particular doll as well. SD's are generally in and around the height of 60cm. (About 2 feet.)
What does MSD mean? MSD stands for Mini Super Dollfie. Also a line of dolls created by Volks. Also used as a size measurment for dolls. MSD's are in and around the height of 45cm or 18 inchs give or take.
What does Tiny mean? Tiny is the term used to describe all BJD's that range in size of 3.5 inches to 12 inches tall.
Whats the difference between BJD's and Super Dollfies? BJD's is the general term to describe all ball jointed dolls. Super Dollfie is the name of the original BJD's created by Volks. Although most of the time BJD's are referred to as Super Dollfies, this is the incorrect usage of the name "Super Dollfie" because Super Dollfie is the name of a particular line of dolls under the company Volks.
What does Face-up mean? Face up is the term used to describe the makeup of the dolls face. When purchasing a doll the company usually asks whether or not you wish for them to do a face-up. Make note that if you do chose the face-up option it usually costs more.
What is Sueding? Sueding is where the owner takes a BJD and small pieces of thin suede and glues them to the inside of the dolls joints to aid in stability and poseability.
What is Re-Stringing? Re-stringing is the art of takeing the doll apart and re-knotting the elastic to be tighter or looser, that holds the doll together.
