Milkin' Pygmies!
April 10th Silly Lil' became the second milking pygmy herd on the east coast. (At least that I know of.) We are currently milking all 5 does: Silly Lil' Sara Anne White, Silly Lil' Baby Ruth, Cirrus, Abbie and Sar-Jim's Pygmys Martha Jane Short.  Each give about 2 pounds (one pound=one pint) of milk each day.  With all that milk we're making feta, chevre, yogurt, ricotta, buttermilk, mozzarella, and cream cheese.  (for our own use of course)  And that's just the start of the home dairy-ing.

Pygmy goat milk is great, if you ever get a chance to try some go for it!!!
Cirrus Milkin'. You can see my lil Surge Milker in the background. It's a big help since it took me 45 min the milk her out by hand in the begining. We always let the kids nurse until they are ready to be weaned until we start milking. That way it is more "kid friendly". Cirrus has been milking for about 1 month.
Sara Milkin'. She's only been milking for a couple days but she's already chewing her cud. (Which means she enjoys it!) Thatta' girl Sara!
