When you buy a pygmy goat from Silly Lil' Pygmies...
1. They are healthy. We annually test our entire herd for Johne's disease. (copy of the results from the lastest test available upon request) Herd tested negative for the disease. Our goats are never sold sick. It's not fair for the goat or for the buyer. If you have any question that the goat is unhealthy (within a reasonable amount of time from purchase) feel free to have it check out by a vet (your own expense) and if it is sick I'll take them back. 2. All their vaccinations are up to date. Kids receive their first CD/T shot and the follow up booster. Adult goats have been receiving their yearly CD/T booster all along. Also I have started vaccinating with Endovac Bovi-an endotoxin vaccine that is used to prevent the harmful effects of endotoxins associated with pasturella pneumonia. All goats will be up-to-date with this vaccine, too. 3. Registered goats are registered with the NPGA. You have no extra paperwork to fill out. Registration certificates are sent to you several days after purchase directly from the NPGA. I pay for all registration/transfer of ownership fees for the goats. 4. Goats are microchipped/tattooed. All goats come identified by your choice of either microchip or tattoo. (I usually prefer microchipping as most vets should have a reader even if you don't, but it is your choice) 5. ALL KIDS ARE DISBUDDED/ALL ADULT GOATS ARE ALREADY DISBUDDED! Sorry no exceptions. Horns can be quite dangerous. All of my kids are disbudded surgically by a very good vet. This is less stress on the kid and there are less scurs especially on buck kids. 6. Male goats that are not breeding quality are sold as wethers. If you ask for a buck kid it won't be castrated. It will be breeding quality. If I wouldn't use him for breeding purposes I don't expect you to want to use him. I believe very strongly in this! 7. Wethers are castrated before sale. I prefer to wait to 3 months to castrate wethers since castrating any earlier may case urinary problems. I also don't like to castrate and sell on the same day... too much stress on the lil kid. I personally "band" castrate the buck kids and like to wait and make sure everything is fine before sale. Wethers are priced much cheaper then bucks so if you intend to castrate the buck kid please ask for a wether. 8. I'll have the goat's hooves freshly trimmed for you too! I'm not a master at hoof trimming but if you are new to goats and would like a "demonstration" I would be pleased to show you. 9. Each goat gets some animal crackers for the road and some food to get them switched over to what you're feeding. If you remember from the "Management page" it is always best to make feeding changes GRADUALLY. That's kinda' tough to do when you don't have a sample of the feed they were previously on. (Maybe it doesn't make a difference but I'd rather not chance it) 10. I'm always here, even after the sale. If you have any questions about your goat fell free to e-mail me. I'm no vet, and shouldn't take the place of one, but I have some experience with goats and can offer advice as long as it isn't an emergency. Always have a good vet/client relationship. : ) 4-H and FFA discounts along with multiple goat discounts. Goats must be sold in pairs unless you have an already established herd or another goat they can be friends with...being that goats are herd animals and will not do well on their own. That's quite a bit of information there... if you have any questions feel free to ask. I don't mind one bit. E-mail for inquiries on prices, updated sales list, being put on the waiting list, or any other questions. (My pygmys are sold for showing, breeding, milking, and pet purposes. Not as meat animals.)
The herd has BEEN TESTED FOR JOHNE'S DISEASE for several years and is NEGATIVE for the disease! (Paperwork available upon request.)
