Monks' house on the left. Left:
Monks' quarters and a small temple, honoring a hermit monk. Hermits are very unusual in Buddhism. The sangha (community of monks or nuns) is the preferred mode.

Right:
The main temple.
Sunday at the temple. Imagine plain-chant and the sound of a wooden bell, tonk-tonk.
East wall. Paintings on the outside walls of the temple. The wide eaves protect them from much of the weather and sun. West wall.
North wall, east end. The top row shows "the farmer and his bullock," a parable about training the mind by practicing meditation and self-discipline. Notice how the bullock changes colour as he gets more "enlightened." North wall, west end.
